Wow, Arnel's voice is in great form. Good job. I love his really clear vocals like in that song.

He's at his best with clear, high, smooth vocals. Sometimes it seems to me that he purposely roughens up his tone on Journey songs, maybe to escape the comparisons? I wish he'd sing like the above more often. It's excellent!

I also think so as he can do that rasp. But I do believe it is more on the successive night by night schedule. Great vocals btw, to our man Arnel

It's only next month when Journey goes in the studio to start recording the new album. Arnel should kill on it. :D

He did really well with this. The band isn't that good but Pineda sounded real strong.

Ammo is better than they sound in this clip. They've been around quite awhile.

Edit: Wait a minute. I thought the band AP sang with that had been around since the 80's was AMO, not Ammo. Same band?

Yes, same band...some info from their FB:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/AMMO/243426933792?v=info

Erick Perocho - Vocals
Monet Cajipe - Lead Guitars / Vocals
Kamlon Acebo - Bass Guitars / Vocals
Edgar Mendoza - Keyboards / Vocals
Marcus Alcantara - Drums / Vocals

Formed in 1986 as The AMO Band, in which later became The New Age Band in 1990 and The Zoo in 2006. Grand champion of national band competitions such as Rock Wars in 1986, and Yamaha Band Explosion in 1988 as The AMO Band, played internationally as The New Age Band from 1990 up to 1997, and recorded an album in CD as The Zoo in 2007.

Today the band is composed of 5 musically dedicated individuals, in which four of the members were originally from the said bands, collaborating with their new front man Erick Perocho, who was formerly lead singer of the countries renown bands namely, Abrakadabra, Fat 16, and Graphix, due to the absence of their original lead singer/front man Arnel Pineda, who is now the lead singer of the international band Journey.

What happened to the lead singer who took over after Arnel when they were still the Zoo. His name starts with an R. Nice guy. I know Erick was singing some songs too from clips I saw but R was the main lead singer.

Reujen Lista, I believe is his name, Jana.

From the FB account of the current Zoo Band with Reujen.

In 2006, five musicians found their home at Hard Rock Café Philippines captivating their audience with matching heavy guitar riffs, thundering drums, and powerful yet melodic vocals. In 2007, the band added Reujen Lista (vocals) and Neil Baruelo (drums/vocals) to the mix when the band’s former lead vocalist, Arnel Pineda, joined the rock band “Journey” as their new front man. ZOO was reborn October of 2009, as band members Reujen and Neil were joined by brothers Joey (lead guitar) and Badz (bass guitar); and Rollie (keyboards). ZOO, now a fusion of three talented brothers.

Hehe Bry it's not on his original setlists. I heard a lady foreigner is the one who requested Foolish heart  .

Arnel was so surprised no one is leaving after the concert so he was obliged and performed the encore song by audience request. When he heard the song title's request he laughed, but still gracious and gave the band go signal to play it.

OA, Faithfully & DSB, the Dirty Three over here. To this day, I often catch them played over celebrated local radio stations...the original OA sparingly alternated with the rerecord, the original Faithfully, & the original DSB (although the rerecord lorded over the charts for some time in 2008, and the Glee version has slowly crept through lately). :D

Um...:wink::

Was in a laid-back town islands far off Manila last Sunday. Went on line for a web fix close to noon...a tad weary so I saw fit to pick up on radio music (on the side) to somehow put myself in the groove. Happened to tune in to a Cebu FM station randomly from the host of clickables. Ah...before long, Foolish Heart was played, then post-lunch the original Faithfully had a turn, & shortly before I wrapped up, the original Open Arms took a slot. :)

Incidentally, the locale was celebrating an annual thanksgiving of sorts and a coronation-cum-ballroom dancing bit (did I say cum?) rolled that night. Was waxing dopey when I unexpectedly overheard a live-ish Open Arms blasting from the venue...was somewhat jolted into awareness. Turned out the accompanying band entertained requests for a limited segment of the bash & the ballad was a topper. Bugged an acquaintance (who sat through the event) for any documentation of that moment...all I've hustled him into sharing were, for whatever it's worth, these identity-safe pics :D:

HUGE Beatle/Paul fan here- He did a decent job on this. I'm surprised that he ducks a bit of McCartney's part in the choruses. However, out of all the remakes I've heard of this tune (and I've heard a billion), this is the closest I've heard anyone get to Paul's original version. Most of the other versions are in lower keys, etc. and they miss the mark.
Out of all the Beatles songs, this one IS the most difficult to sing. I've sang em all and this one's by far the most difficult.
Decent job. He gets the "Fab" seal of approval. ;)
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

***

No less than the country’s Concert King Martin Nievera and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano acknowledged the fact that the Cebuano crowd is hard to please, adding that if the crowd doesn’t like the performer for whatever reason, they would just sit there, stare at the performers and keep silent. In the worst scenario, they would simply walk out of the venue.

But if the viewers love the performer, they will not hesitate to show appreciation in whatever way they can. Gauging from the way the Cebuano crowd received international group Journey’s vocalist Arnel Pineda—in his recent pre-Valentine show dubbed “Love Rocks… Arnel Pineda”—Cebu did love Arnel. The people went out of their way to stand and dance, something that is a rarity in this part of the country.

Aside from interpreting high-pitched songs, as if it were an ordinary thing to do, Arnel carefully selected his repertoire. He came up with a varied list of well-loved, mellow rock songs from as far back as the 80s (or even earlier) to the present.

With the crowd’s display of appreciation, Arnel could not help but exclaim: “Cebu, you’re hot!” Aptly put.

Sigh, Faithfully. 8) He sounds great. He's not dragging that first part I noticed. The audience is going crazy for the Journey songs. I have a feeling next year they're going to do much bigger concerts ticketwise in the Asian part of the tour, Japan, Phils, Hong Kong. And since Hawaii is part of that, with their five sold-out shows there, they could go bigger venuewise, it would seem.
