Going to hear a Journey tribute band tomorrow night.

They're called TRIAL BY FIRE and heard a few clips online and they sound pretty awesome.

Included in the line-up is a Heart tribute band and Led Zep.

Should be a cool night.

They're great. I've seen them a few times up here (in Charlotte) and they put on a good show.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

I think there might be more than one band called "Trial By Fire." Pretty sure this is a local Nashville thing. The singer did "Red Hill Mining Town" with the Long Players a few weeks ago and killed it.

Really? I was looking online and found one band called TRIAL BY FIRE from Charlotte, and just assumed it was them.

I'll take some pics tonight and maybe some video and post them tomorrow.

Well, it wasn't what I expected. The band that was calling themselves TRIAL BY FIRE was not the group from N.C. and while the singer was excellent, he sounded nothing like Perry, the band was incredible, but not really taking on a Journey persona or replicating them really.

I'd say they were a band doing Journey covers, not a Journey tribute band.

The Heart tribute band was excellent, the girl doing Ann is a great vocalist, but really sounds nothing like Ann Wilson, (that's a one of a kind voice) but she made those high notes seem effortless. The girl doing the Nancy part was good, but seemed clearly nervous, but still managed to pull off some of the same licks Nancy is known for on acoustic and electric. However, there is no replicating what Nancy Wilson does because she puts her mark on everything.

Overall they were really good shows, but I was expecting a little more from the Journey "tribute" band.

Peace all!

yeah, didn't think it was the same band. Although I'd rather hear a band play & sing their asses off being themselves (even when doing covers) than attempting to mimic/look like another band....it's all about the music, anyway. Wanted to make it but just couldn't make it happen last night...oh well, there's always a next time.

I agree. I'd much rather hear a band take on covers and make them their own a little bit, but I guess I was expecting what I've come to know as a "tribute band" thing and honestly, I would have loved to hear that guy from N.C. cause his vocals I heard online were so close to Perry's it was scary.

Jeremey, this is the group I thought we were seeing a couple weeks ago. The guy we heard was good, but wasn't even trying to sound like Perry.

Me three. Frontiers is the best value in the entire concert world. $10 to hear great American music performed with virtuosity and without an Asian accent

Hey guys that was me in that video...Ernie shepherd. I used to sing with the Charlotte band trial by fire. Those other videos are of their new lead singer. If you'd like to check out my new band find us on facebook.com/lineoffirejourney.
Thanks so much.
