Wonder if it is this show only ? This show appears to be in standard pitch and no tuned down. Can Arnel cope ? I hope so. Hard to say about the new songs. The fidelity makes it hard to tell. Arnel is sounding great though.

I'd like to hear Separate Ways and Never Walk Away if anyone has those clips. :) I think it'll allow for a more accurate assessment of the new songs if I can hear how the older, familiar songs sound.

Good deal, if they stay in standard tune I might have to get out to see them this year.

The new tunes are a bit on the plodding side already. Getting any flatter might make them unlistenable.

Those live clips cannot be used as a good measure of how the songs sound. The angle of the camera caught tons of Arnel, Drums and everything else was much lower. Ross was barely audible at all. Without the bottom end it really sounds lacking.

Like I have said, I think the recorded versions are going to come off great sonically, just like TRIAL BY FIRE.

HIs voice sounds strong and confident. Dont like the way he ends the 1st song but he sounds clear and powerful. I think he has been working on technique. He isnt out of key during hold on. Its the crowd hehe !

:!:

I have to agree with some that LISTENING TO THESE CLIPS I don't hear all the hooks, etc.. I agree with that. I'm also smart enough to not base my opinion of the songs on Youtube clips. One CAN judge the performances of the songs. They're great performances. But you really can't judge the songs by them (my opinion). These could be extended versions that kind of go on longer than they need to, etc.
I'm going by the performance. The band sounds great.
Once I get the album, then I'll judge the song, but I'm not going to say "God this sucks" or "I love this" based on a Youtube clip.

Damn....Arnel sounds good! And I'm saying this grudgingly...lol. Like LD said, technique (and diction) definitely has improved. Say what you will about "making it your own"...fact of the matter is, Journey hardcores who have heard these songs hundreds of times, want to hear it sang (performed) like the original (SP). And the 3 songs posted here very much reminiscent of the tone and energy from Journey's heyday.

Who coming up to Reno can sneak me in?!? Seriously  .

This was only one warm-up show. I imagine they'll be down-tuned again when the real tour starts. Doesn't bother me at all...Jovi, U2 and Metallica have been doing it for decades.

I have to LOL at people trying to get all specifically critical based on super-crappy cell phone audio/video.
