The_Noble_Cause wrote:"Change for the Better" is the punchiest track on the album - retro, but with a certain vitality. Wish there were more like this. In total, all the Rev rockers are very soft. Nothing like Arrival's "World Gone Wild" or "All the Things", or even Generations' "Out of Harm's Way"

Wildest Dream?

I don't like Wildest Dream. I also don't really like What it Takes To Win. It has a very nice vocal performance from Arnel, but the song itself does not excite me. The rest of the album is pretty good !!

I don't find Wildest Dream to be a hard rocker at all. Chain Reaction is harder than that.

Loons!
No Perry = No Journey LOL

They probably never listened to Arrival or Generations either. You know how it is around here....people vote like that just because they
think it will ruffle feathers.

I listen to "The Journey (Revelation)" all the time... Rest of the album not so much.

I've been watching the Revelation tracks on the Manila DVD; they're much better than on the album. Where Did I Lose Your Love should be in Journey's live set for a long time. Change For The Better is also much better live. Turn Down The World Tonight is a very solid ballad than is a step in a new direction, unlike After All These Years, which, while a decent song, is mostly a ripoff of Open Arms/Faithfully. Never Walk Away is enjoyable and catchy. What I needed is my least favorite.

Revelation is actually a pretty decent album with very lackluster production. The 38 seconds of City Of Hope show potential for Eclipse to be a much better album sonically. Not to mention that I think Edge Of The Moment is better than anything off of Revelation.

Revelation= fairly respectable effort
Eclipse= rockstar awesome effort (seems to be so far)

Not as frequently as the classic material. But I do spin in it once in a while, including recently. I still enjoy the disc of original material, for the most part. The re-records, not so much.

I so hope you're right. No Journey record has sounded good to me sonically since ROR. Praying for a good mix.

I wholeheartedly agree with that last comment!!

Never understood the praise for TBF and especially Arrival in terms in production/mix qualities (we all agree on Generations and Red 13 anyway... I reckon). For my ears the work of Kevin Elson and Mike Stone on Escape and Frontiers is head and shoulders above anything post ROR (which itself sounds excellent to these ears).

Just imagine how good Arrival would have sounded with guys like Elson and/or Stone at the helm...

Well, just my 2c

Cheers

... and by the way, I've listened to Revalation at least 40 times at the time when it came out. Yes, I still like it a lot, listen to it occasionally while driving and think it's their best since ROR.
