So WHY select markets?

Postby Hippie » Wed Apr 06, 2011 6:45 am

This has been touched on in other threads, but I haven't seen a definitive answer.

The City of Hope and Human Feel are only available for listen and purchase in specific markets; namely on iTunes in specific countries and such.

First of all (showing my ignorance) I didn't even realize there was more than one iTunes. Which leads to my question.

Given that "WWW" is World Wide Web, why not release the songs everywhere? Does it have to do with Copyright laws and such. I can't imagine it's a cost thing. Then again, is it?

Anybody know?

It seems to stem from a number of things; sales from outside skewing sales positions on local billboard charts, different copyright laws and royalty rates for different countries, exchange rates that may be more expensive or cheaper then what you can purchase the tunes for in your own country, just a lot of stuff.
