Not happening. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that he can still sing and even less that he wants to, let alone wanting to rejoin Journey. The rumor mill feeds on people who still believe this is gonna happen

If I had 8 months with Perry I guarantee he would be singing again. Confidence yoga running and singing would whip this bastard into shape. He would sing the songs at the right speed and the songs would sound great, Better than Augi and Pinny combined.
A tour like this would bring many millions add a Dennis STYX reuniting combo tour and you are talking 100 million easy.
Still do not know why the DJ from WLS blurted that out.

Makes perfect sense. The Eagles hated each other, but they got back together on stage. Classic Journey does not have to tour as a real band, per se, they just need to get back on stage together...and let the magic happen.

My gut is that the current album has finally let Schon out of his cage. So be it. I hope it shines and sells gazillions. I hope that Cain is happy with it. I truly hope, although never really a fan, that AP really brings it and sings his sweet & powerful voice to the masses all over the Earth. (Yes, I do mean that!)

However, what happens when this album/tour is finally done? What's next? Probably not a whole lot. They'll all go their own ways...for awhile. And to top this all, it'll mean snagging Rolie, maybe Smith, and reign'ing-in Perry for final go-around. It could only mean half a dozen shows, who knows, but it's gotta be the last hoorah of sorts...even if only a Vegas thing.

It only makes sense.

If Froy had 8 months with Steve Perry, Steve would be in the rubber room right next to Froy.

Not to me. If Eclipse sells big, my guess would be that Neal would start writing immediately for another hard-rocking follow-up. Finally, Neal wouldn't have to go rock out in side projects.

I think that's probably close. Perhaps even a little bit higher. Let's say 700-800k.

Journey will always be associated with Steve Perry simply because he was their face and voice during their heyday, the man had a brilliant voice, the best I`ve ever heard.
It`s a tragedy that he damaged his voice,a tragedy for himself for his fans and for Journey.
I can understand that there are fans who want to hear him sing even with a damaged voice but I think Perry is never going to present himself this way again because he has nothing to win and everything to lose.
As you said Pineda is a great vocalist, you say without identity.
Well it is just the way you look at it personally..some people will never relate to anyone else than Perry
singing the classics and others can relate because Pineda sings them in a credible way.
Hate it or love it Pineda`s stage antics are much different than Perry`s.

So,and who is going to sing the new songs on the Eclipse tour?

You just better hope they do and stick to worrying about that ...instead of stupid
stuff!!

Do they really think 80 percent of the fans would really care if they're not playing Eclipse stuff?

Okay, who is going to sing the classics?

Seeing as VH just trotted out a vocally shot DLR for a tour in 2007 after Sammy left the band and the tour STILL SOLD OUT, I think people can live with Perry singing down a step or two, especially as like Roth, he is the guy whose voice the fans have been listening to on the radio all these years.

Hey I`m with you on that thought but what we all should realise is that Steve Perry is no longer willing or able to share his talents with us...so make way for those who still share.

I have no doubt about Perry NOT rejoining the band. I'm just saying if he did, Lefsetz and other big time critics who been suggesting that Journey and him reconcile would make sure that the publicity was out there to ensure a sold out tour, whether the guy could sing or not. To a number of critics, while Arnel is a great vocalist, he has no identity beyond being another replacement singer filling in for Perry. Every time there's an interview about DSB and the origin of the song, that position just receives further enforcement. While the song has helped create a rejuvination for the Journey 'brand', from Arnel's position it has definitely not allowed any separation between current Journey and the man who's voice he has to emulate every night on tour.

i'd consider 500,000 and a gold album a success these days.unless its some pop or country act like cornbread and peas or faith mcgraw.

I am to this thread a little late, but MAYBE if we all pray to Jesus and the Easter Bunny, ole Steve's voice might return.
