Not really a big fan of any of those songs, but I think from an artistic point of view he really didn't change much with any of the songs. He was just a better fit vocally (and just a better voice). Kind of like when I hear Arnel sing Open Arms and Only The Young. I hear a less grating, less contrived version of Open Arms and a stronger version of Only The Young ... a song Perry largely struggled to sing live. Kind of how Arnel struggles on DSB and Lights. You just have to listen to the songs on merit and not allow one singer to be married to the songs. Let that be the course of action for the behemoth heifers that adore "Stephen" (Perry) and "Stevie Awesome" (Augeri).

Diff. singers have diff strengths. Steve Augeri, for example, was always solid on Wheel in the Sky and Lights. Arnel, like Perry tho, has so much range to spare, that he can practically sing anything.

Journey used to be the leaders. Now they sound like followers desperately trying to remember how they once sounded.

The writing def. took a hit without Perry, but the music is still still recognizably Schon/Cain, and very Journey. Arrival showed what the band can do with a great co-writer (i.e. Jack Blades). At it's worst, the new material sounds like leftover Bad English - but that's ok, some of their material was Journeyish too.

Point 1 - Frontiers Records did not select those clips. It us as plain as day that they were auto-cut by Amazon computer system and added to the site. No one with half a brain would do thise samples intentionally.
Amazon do the same for every album. It is just that with this album's extended tracks, getting good snippets requires more thinking.

Point 2 - Frontiers were told not do allow any advance samples out. Amazon have been asked to remove these clips.
But in my mind, that's all a little too late and better samples should be sorted ASAP.

Point 3 - Anyone thinking they can get half a clue about this album based on these samples and then dismiss the album is just plain nuts.

PS. At this point, Frontiers have asked me not to do my usual showcase/samples. I await a time that I can.

So, Amazon when it was given the music for their digital download agreement with Frontiers, took it upon themselves to shove the music through the old encoder cut and paster to sample the songs? Seems very strange SOP, but stranger things have happened I suppose. This simply means that artists have no control over how they wish to represent themselves. Too many fingers in the digital pie. No wonder GaGa does all her own social media stuff. She is at the very least hands on with her whole image.

[p.s. I love it when Andrew is passionate about a subject, he spells stuff strange and makes little slip-ups (It us as) ]
