But not in the US.
Our attention span isn't long enough. Remember when songs used to have bridges, choruses, and verses? Now they just have a riff or hook repeated over and over and over and over and over...
Ain't that the truth, talents like Mr Big can sell out the Budakon twice over still, but yet us lucky North American folk here get to listen to likes of Will Smith's kid scream about how she "whips her hair back and forth" over and over and over and over.

The japanese love ANYTHING American. They'd love Junior Samples playing the jug, while sampling in Charlie Sheen's 'Winning' over the break in Chic's
Le FreakDoesn't say much about Mr. Big's talent.....

Wrong, they thought ROR was shit and they quickly abandoned the good ship Journey because of it.
As far as in concert, Don....
Last tour, Journey played Gymnasiums while Mr. Big played Budokan. They don't just blindly follow any American act like they used to 30 years ago. The #7 song on today's Japanese iTunes Rock chart is Mr Big's 'To Be With You' so there is some type of loyalty there obviously. Japanese fans have stuck with some Western acts continuously over the years but not every band has been so lucky. The economy over there is not that good, not every 80s band concert is an instant sellout like the old days.
Individually, they do well over there too. Hell for some reason they can't get enough of EM, his
Mr Vocalist CDs sell very well over there.......SonyJapan keeps wanting
one more from him.

Was recently watching a '91 Budakon concert dvd that had footage of before and after the concert too and their van pulls up to the venue with the band and their managers Herbie and Sandy in it and there is a bunch of Japanese women calling to Eric when he gets out and throwing all kinds of gifts down at him from above, LOL poor guy is running below trying to catch them all.

Pretty sure Billy and Paul's solo stuff sells well too.
