"Still she cries" - Amazing...

Postby BRETT5150 » Tue May 03, 2011 9:48 pm

Just got "Trial by fire" 3 days ago. I only have 3 albums to go to complete collection. Already, I have'nt stopped listening too it, I just love it. Sure, its more melodic than the ones before it, but the production is amazing. Normally, Shirleys work is quite muddy...
The song that sticks out the most is, "Still she cries" (absolutely sensational), the piano solo at the end put the hair up on my back....Just beautiful.
I'm loving this album.

it is a great album indeed

the production is not muddy at all, but still has a very custom sound i think , you don't hear it in other jrny albums, not even in the shirley ones

Glad to hear that you love it, it's an amazing LP and is as timeless as
everything preceding it ...I've been listening to it for over a
decade and seem to appreciate it more as time goes on ...

Though not a fan TBF overall, this is one of the few tracks I do really like. Beautiful music right there.

I was a latecomer to Journey, but TBF was the first album of theirs I bought. I had already heard DSB and AWYWI, but decided to buy a later album for reasons unknown. Perhaps because it was the first Journey CD I owned, I might be a bit biased, but now that I own everything they have done, I still prefer TBF above all.

Still She Cries kind of drew from Schon and Cain's solo work around that time and worked well as a Journey tune. Cool and rare solo from Cain.

Well, as Journey worked hard to pull youtubes of the songs, blocked samples (which Amazon ignored, but ended up giving us shit pieces anyway) why bother talking about Eclipse BEFORE it is released? In three weeks, you'll have more conversation about Eclipse than you can stomach.

I think that this would be an awesome song for Deen to sing

If you like the Cain solo, buy his CD "Piano With A View." This album is full of those, so good that I still listen to it very regularly even though I bought it nine months ago

Still she cries is why TBF rises above.

A very beautiful, haunting song....moved me to tears
Easy to fall and Its just the rain another deep tracks that have amazing emotion.

The two releases are CLASSIC Journey

Cant Tame the Lion was classic Schon.
Castles Burning would have rocked live (Thank you Augeri for making this true)

One More is straight off Frontiers B side, awesome rocker,

some filler on TBF, and needed the rocker I can see it in your eyes on the US release,
but a few amazing gems makes TBF a must

Why oh Why was Baby Im a Leaving You make this CD???? and personally cant stand the precious moments song, but knno im going to Hell cause Perry wrote it for his Mom.

Don't forget about Message of Love and the title track. Trial By Fire is actually a pretty damn strong album. Dare I say better than Escape? I think I will. I really dig Trial By Fire. I like the contemporary modern sound.

I love 'Still She Cries', but the title track makes me think that this is the kind of vocal performance we'd see from Perry on a possible solo release one day. Nothing too strenuous for his voice, just haunting, soothing and heartfelt.
