1974 Winterland Journey vids

Postby WykkedSensation » Sun May 01, 2011 7:33 am

These are the earliest vids i have seen yet guys, even Tickner is in there.
Amazing stuff, and good to see that some early stuff is beginning to see the light of day.
Hopefully more to come. Houston 1980, or even a ROR show anyone?

Man, I love Neal's tone and playing from those days... Neal and Sammy make a great team- makes you wonder what would have happened if they had stayed together longer than just HSAS.

Back then Sammy said Neal wanted to do HSAS full time, which is easy to believe due to the way things were going with Perry and Neal's desire to rock out more. It would have been a good move for Neal given what happened with ROR and a ten year hiatus. An HSAS that would have been more inclined to write for radio more than they did on Through the Fire and the unreleased tunes they played live could certainly have attained a degree of success that a Hagar led VH did.

I also find it hard to believe that Planet US, with a lineup including Hagar, Schon and Satriani, didn't have some significant label interest. If Assoff had been interested in going to bat for them they certainly would have gotten decent offers. Perhaps he was more interested in protecting his interest in Journey. I believe Planet US would have been miles ahead of what Chickenfoot put out with their first effort.

Is that Ross Valory playing keys with Gregg Rolie on 'In The Morning Day'? If so, is that Tickner on bass?
