Let's see how close we can get... .

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

while I love the album, I think that the word is not getting out about it and that the casual Journey fan (fans of LTS and Open Arms) will not dig it. Their loss.

I think it might surprise us. Revelation was not available for download on Amazon, as far as I know.
At least, I couldn't find it. Can anyone else confirm this?

Journey was doing inteverviews, was on Ellen performing, was on the CBS Morning Show, was in GQ earlier in the year, was reviewed by the New York Times, Rolling Stone, etc. People knew about the album and it was a multi-disc package. Many of my friends who bought it liked the idea of the DVD with it. It's great that it's available for download this time around through Amazon, but people have to know about it first.

I agree. No promotion what so ever. If I wasnt a hardcore Journey fan and checked their website I would have never heard about Eclipse even being released. No talk shows, no late night shows, no walmart tv commercial, no special appearences..etc. I think Journey will be lucky to squeek out 50,000 in the first week. I sure hope I am wrong.

Not only that, but the Arnel cinderella story was new, viral all over the internet, all over Oprah, and People buying Revelation, were buying that story, and a DVD concert, maybe more so then the CD itself. it also had the GH with Arnel singing them, for collector value.

Record sales alone, are a 1/4 of what they were, in general, let alone a band like Journey, weather we like it or not, are a classic band, with new material. I don't think that scenario for any classic act, v.s. "New (Of this generation) Artist Music" Gaga, Bieber, Adelle, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas etc.... will ever compete, for something considered to be successful album sales in this day and age.

But hey, as a band, they're touring the world, headlining Wembley, and HAVE sold more records overall, then the other 90% of the acts on the planet. I don't think any of this is an attempt to "Get back on top", I really think they're making music, to celebrate their band, and their legacy with their fans, to play shows, and to make a big fidelic record, was more the focus then charting at radio, or making the billboard top sales.

They're hitting the road hard this year, they'll get some sales from that, but I don't think it'll be as significant as in the past, but I could also be entirely wrong.

I don't know if Wal-Mart sees it that way and if this disc sells less than expected, the band's next release might have to be financed by themselves. A new found creativity/direction is wonderful for us, the fans but for the retailer, business is business and sales will dictate future support in distribution.
