Eclipse booklet needs some work

Postby ebake02 » Thu May 26, 2011 1:13 pm

I can't believe how fucked up the booklet is, I swear half the lyrics printed are wrong. Some of those lyrics aren't even close to what Arnel is singing. :?

Something more than the two dollars it cost to manufacture this package.

Even the grammar in the individual band member thank yous coulda been more effectively proofread by a 6th grade English student. Yep, guess the band really did write those themselves...

Yeah, I noticed that too. Some of it's way off.

I can understand a few errors but come on, half the book? Somebody clearly wasn't doing their job and Don, I agree. I'm not impressed with what they packaged this in either, this is cheap dollar store kind of stuff.

It really is distressingly cheap ... looked BAD in the rack at Wally World next to all the jewel cases and slick productions on the the other new releases.

Seems weird that the booklet is such a mess too when there is no need for it to be that way.

I appreciate the idea that they didn't autotune the crap out of the production and made real record, but the "warts and all" philosophy shouldn't have extended to the packaging.

I dunno, compare the album package to Escape. Escape had those horrible xeroxed photos on the album liner and later the CD booklet. The back cover of Escape also blew. Frontiers definitely had crap artwork and photos. I always hated that Frontiers cover with a passion. Terrible artwork, especially when compared to that of Evolution and Infinity. The cover illustration for Eclipse is good and the photos inside are decent. The thing I don't dig the most on Eclipse is the environmental packaging. The darn cover won't stay closed and, sitting in my car, it gets bunged up right away. I miss the old CD jewel cases myself. I always think that a FAN would do a better job than a record company on these kinds of things because they would care about it. They shoulda dropped a lotta Cain's notes (see the other post) in there for some good liner notes too.

I have yet to look at the lyrics printed. From all accounts, it's pretty messed up. That's okay, I can understand what's being sung and don't really need the lyrics written out.

The $10.00 argument is valid. It could've been a LOT worse.

Yes and no Bry. In this day and age when people don't buy physical CDs all that often, the presentation should be solid imo. Especially considering people are virtually forced to buy the physical CD. I don't really care that much to be honest, but it still would be nice to have something a little more durable. The way the back flap folds over the front flap is reallllly bad.

Also, Linda makes a nice point: It DOES look cheap on the shelf compared to all the more professionally packaged CDs that Eclipse is competing with.

Right but that seems more an issue for the production department than the art department. I thought (other than the lyrics) that the book, cover, and photos were decent. But the packaging definitely was not good.

This was exactly my complaint when I posted my review. I actually WANT to be the one to proof the next CD. I could do a really nice job.

This is something I've never understood about album packaging. I would guess a majority (60-75%) of the albums I own do not have accurate lyrics. Don't you think someone would sit down and spend a LITTLE time in making sure they were right?

There are a lot of things that "need some work" with this whole release, and I'm not talking about the music.
