Have you listened to Eclipse in it's entirety?

Yup, a few of times actually. I've listened to it start to finish at least twice and have listened to it a song or two at a time a couple of times as well.

+1. Except in my case it's now just a single 7" Resonate with whichever song on side B.

Steveos next thread : what kind of sound system did you use to listen to Eclipse

Being the wannabe audiophile I am, and given the average age of everyone here (which equates to people who have been around long enough and have come up through the ages as audio equipment has evolved) that could be a very cool thread! Then again, maybe that subject has been hashed and rehashed to death - I dunno. Still, it would be interesting to learn how the album (and the rest of everyone's playlists) are presented by those who participate.

I'm thinking PP, featuring Eclipse ...headphones/not?!?!

Yes!! More than a few times, and only once all in one sitting, in order, ...the theme
escaped me and I've come to the conclusion that the Hindu vibe is the theme?!?!
It's that Hindu sound that can get a bit overbearing...but I do listen without protection, also...
risky, I know ...

Hey MG!

I'm so glad you said that! It's completely lost on me. When I think "concept" album or "theme" album, it conjures up Dark Side of the Moon, RUSH 2112, Queensryche Operation Mindcrime, etc. If I was given the album to listen to and knew nothing about it being a "concept" album I certainly wouldn't get it since not any one song has really anything to do with the next. :? :)

I didn't listen to it for a few days because I was slammed with other stuff.
Came into work today, dropped it into the CD player and it's still good!

Some of the songs have a theme (universal unity). Others do not. It's like Sgt. Pepper (as far as the concept)- there were a few songs that tied together, the rest were just other songs dropped onto the album. It's not like The Wall where every song plays into the theme. At least, that's my take.
Digging the Hindu/Budhist vibe myself. I prefer my religions to be about unity rather than division.

I've listened to it several times now. I still like the first three songs and "Resonate" the best but "She's a Mystery" has grown on me as well (though I still wish they'd have taken that ending and made it into a whole new song).

Eclipse has been retired for the time being. I'm rolling with Adele this week.

Listened to it start to finish 3 times this weekend. Once on a road trip with the wife. Her only real comment was that some of the stuff sounded like it should be on Broadway, not a Journey record. Obviously the NS moments tends to dominate the record, but I thought the band all sounded tremendous. Arnel's vocals aren't my personal preference when it comes to this type of material, but I thought he did a great job. Someone else said they thought the vocals needed more depth, and I would agree with that idea. Overall the album doesn't blow me away, but it's a solid performance.

I probably would have preferred if NS would have just brought some of this stuff out for one of his solo projects.

I'll listen to a few tracks here and there on the ipod, but doubtful I play the entire thing start to finish that often.

Dudes and dudet's, to be honest, steveo777 is really on the right track. Not taking anything away from AP, the plain truth is with Perry at 60 or 70, Journey would maintain greatness and legendary status as they did when Perry once was a music vocal icon. Journey with Perry in any form or fashion would be ICONIC and unforgetable as of NOW. Anyone else with Journey (vocallist) IS NOTHING SHORT OF A DAM GOOD BAND WITH A DAM GOOD SINGER. It's too simple. We all lived through greatness and SP's best years. steveo777 has his opinion and mine is he's correct.

Like that Tantra p-o-s. Either that was some old leftover from Phantom of the Opera, or they stole it from Josh Groban.
Funny, I do want to listen to it more, just to figure it out...but I'm afraid I'll dislike it even more.

A "damn good band with a damn good singer" that tours and creates music trumps an iconic one that does nothing, for my money.
