Because that hasn't happened. The fan-boy rah rah shit comes when someone ignorantly starts accusing those who don't like the album of only listening to soundbytes of the album and giving their reviews based solely on those soundbytes. I'm sure that has happened, but there those of us who have listened to the album in its entirety, several times, and still didn't find the album to be worth a 100% score.

This is a freakin' Journey forum board folks. All fans, past and present, of all incarnations of this band should be welcomed to talk about any aspect of Journey. Whether if it's past, present, or future. I'm tired of the attitude that if you're not 100% on board with the present band, then you don't belong here. That's exactly how Backtalk was, and I know there are still decent members here who don't want to see this board turn into the same kool-aid drinking cult that backtalk was. I don't believe that is how Andrew intends for this board to be presented as.

Dude, I'm diggin' Of a Lifetime these days. Topaz, too.

The_Noble_Cause wrote:"Human Feel" is a great jam. The free-form interplay between Neal and the rest of the band toward the end reminds me of La Raza Del Sol on the Vegas dvd, with Jon and Neal trading off. I can listen to that and never get bored. Lyrics about dispassionate souless technology set to a tribal primitive drumbeat also makes for a very clever contrast. Def. not one of the album's best tunes, but no turkey either.

That's another thing about this song that increases its appeal to me. My job is to define and build software at the convergence of Web, mobile and social technologies. I'm in it all day. All night. All the time. My wife yells at me about how I always have my iPhone in my face. It's just a part of who I am and what I do. So the message that appeals to our need to disconnect from tech and connect to people, ahem, Resonates

I like that the lyrical content on this disc is more mature and deeper than it was and I was back in 1981.

Guess it's better than being a pussy!

But I digress, this is the post that derailed the thread. I apologize to Dan for Eric's behavior. We will reassure you it doesn't happen again!

I find it hysterical (and a little disturbing, too) that there are people who have followed Journey hardcore throughout their lives and have discussed Eclipse for hours and hours but won't spend $8 on it.

I find it hysterical (and a little disturbing , too) that poor Greg has to apologize for Eric's behavior!

Do you see the trailer, not like it, and then spend the rest of the year on IMDB's message boards talking about it, though?

If it's a stand alone movie? No. If it's part of a series like, Star Wars, Harry Potter, 007...etc.?

Hell yes you will. People are invested in the series of movies, like they can be invested in a band....do you get it now?

Why does AP vocals all kinda sound the same, anyone notice that. He's a good singer but just something about his vocals on everything he sings just, ehh, i don't know. Bummer man.

Yep.
I listened to W.E.T. pretty much all the way through at work today and I was reintroduced to how good of a singer JSS is. The difference between Arnel and JSS that is favorable to the latter is that Soto is a native English speaker who understands the subtleties and nuances far better than Arnel does. Arnel's got all of the technical capability in the world, but sometimes it's lost in the translation.

You see what I did there?

I noticed that the first time i had ever heard him sing. A man at my work even asked me if i had heard him sing and i said yes and his reply was really the same as mine. He's a good singer but he sounds the same vocally and everything he sings. So i took a deeper listen and noticed his register and darker color is always the same and not so good. Oh well, just my opinion.

Well, I guess not everyone can succumb 2 my desire and understand that the use of numbers in song titles can travel soul 2 soul, making one appreciate the modern, rebellious use of digits in titles. Even though this joke clearly wasn't 4u, I'll B There 4 Up and your faltering sense of humor, even though it's obvious that you have a long way 2 go.

Yeah, no shit. First he was channeling Nostrildamus and his two very distinct voices (pre and post steroids/deterioration) ... and now he sounds the same on everything? Too funny!

Oh, I disagree with the idea that he sounds the same in terms of range and pitch. He clearly doesn't.

I find it hysterical (and a little disturbing, too) that poor Koberry is so stupid for not going back and reading Greg's answers in which Eric queried. Perhaps if this said Koberry person was intelligent enough to do this, then he/she would realize he/she is doing nothing but stirring up shit again, especially when Eric's query is out of line since Greg has stated "Greg has listened to Eclipse in its entirety, from first track to last track, several, several times", yet Eric continues to query the same thing again even though the query has been answered. In the real world, we call this ignorance. I'd suggest you wise up.

Because it is the habit of behavior of a few to trash what appeals to many for the effect of shock and unrest.

And likewise, there are those of us who are SP fans who are called 'loons' and 'fat cows who mow through buffets like a herd of buffalo'. What an irony! :P

BTW, I wear my loon title as a badge of honor, but I rarely go to buffets and although I have a little work to do, my BMI is within normal range. So suck it!!!

There is a difference...

A fanboy is a term used beyond just Journey...It describes the behavior of spouting positive thoughts in an over-zealous way even though it is obvious that there are critical or out right flaws in what they are saying. Those here who were talking about 100,000 or more in sales the first week, or out selling Revelation...a few weeks before its release, and now grasp for excuses of why they were wrong....they are acting like Journey fanboys. THAT is by definition.

A 'loon' is a made up term to be insulting towards certain Perry fans...who are actually acting like Perry fanboys. I can't think of a time when I have used that term. I've called people PerryHeads...but that is a term that Perry fans made up themselves.

The point is that there comes a time when it's time to let it go. Not trying to harsh on you, Greg... just don't see the reason to get so whipped up and adamant about something you're not digging.

Agree this could be a Tommy Shaw song. Thrilled to hear Schon change things up a bit.

About the 5th time through the CD. Liking it more each time. Love the ending of She's a Mystery. Haven't cranked up the stereo that loud in years. Sounds awesome.

Is it just me or is Arnel singing "He" instead of "She" about a third of the time?

For the record, I think running is boring, redundant and about as challenging as tying your shoe. However, I'm sure that about 4 weeks of training would yield the results needed to leave you in my dust, Portly. As is, though, I could smoke you in a quarter mile run, half mile run and one mile run. Probably with a six pack in me.

For the record reading your posts is way more boring than running will ever be for me...and well I will give you six weeks of training...and I would still beat your loud mouth ass.

but I digress....maybe if you were running to Eclipse that would make it more fun for you? I can load it on your Itunes for you, I know that's a challenge for you...I am always willing to help!
