Not trying to say Perry sucks (I'm fully aware of how amazing his voice was back in the days of old ), just that I'm a big fan of the Post-Perry material and the voices behind those songs, and while JSS never recorded anything with the band (that we know of), I've been a fan of his voice since before I even knew he had a brief stint in Journey.

Nope, Gideon nailed it actually. I'm not the least bit frightened to take a stand and be vocal about actually thinking the band's improved since Perry left and actually appreciating/preferring Perry's replacements. Why should I be afraid? What makes Perry so damn important that anyone who happens to have the same view as me be afraid to go and say it? It's not like I'm gonna get killed, and if someone were to actually do that because I don't put Perry on an altar, then clearly said-killer has mental issues. There's no real reason for me to be afraid, Don.

I really can't comment on Augeri live. The man obviously struggled tremendously and, since touring is Journey's bread and butter, it was in their best interests to let him go. But recording-wise, Augeri won me over the first time I popped in Arrival. Perry's undeniably the superior singer, but I prefer Augeri's approach and tone, if not his range and power.

Gid- on record, he was great. Really good. I actually had that Tall Stories album from a radio bud, but they wouldn't play it because Seattle was Grungeland. I played the crap out of it. Live though, the guy just had no power and his pitch was dreadful. It's too bad that he had such a hard time with the road, but who wouldn't with that catalog? I like what he brought to the band and I still play Arrival and [GASP!] Generations.

Today i watched 2001 DVD start to end and i must say no matter how strong Arnel's voice is , you can never receive the feeling and soul of Augeri's performance, even when he's struggling...in the DVD though his performance is flawless, ten years old footage and still sounds so fresh, it's amazing
