If you cant hear the background vocals, when youre blasting a song through a stereo system, then there arent any real background vocals. My guess is Neal wanted them way way way back in the background , right next to the keys

I've got some made with mahogany called Timbers by Maxell.
Rich warm sound, and deep bass...best earbuds I've ever used.
As you were...

And interesting about AP, if he used more echo (ala Daryl Hall), would he sound stronger, or would it amplify his accent? I'd like to be in a studio to play with that a bit.

Thanks. Not sure I intuitively understand why the songs can't combine the harder feel created by the riffs and guitar-centricity with the accessibility that comes with choruses being pulled a bit more forward.

I need more space in the sounds to become emotionally involved with the music. The layer after layer issue is not working for any bonding with the album.I want to love this, but I need dynamics, silence and space to connect. Give my mind room to interact with the melody, extend my aural senses and "hear" it, please.
ETA: i.e. I have no problem connecting with The Who's Baba O'Riley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKUBTX9kKEo both live and on the album. http://youtu.be/x2KRpRMSu4g

I agree with this.
