Brutal, brutal (in?)decision.
Absolute sloth on the part of all involved.

It's the same stuff we've been complaining about since Arrival, not even MINIMAL effort put into promo. And Rev's sales probably doomed the promo effort on this one even more.

yandtguy wrote:"She's A Mystery" is somewhat of a Led Zeppelin clone throughout the song, not just at the kick in. I still like it though, as it is a nod to Journey's 70's roots. It'll probably be one of the few songs from Eclipse that will stay in my Journey rotation in years to come.

The Zeppelinish kick-in MAKES the song. The acoustic part is just an extended musical cock-tease.

Yes!

Andrew just stated in another thread how the promo hasn't even begun for this yet. Lets wait and see.

I wasn't one of the fanboi's involved in the 'platinum watch' conducted here back during revelation. Those voices have all but silenced now, once the reality of what kind of record eclipse is.

I do seem to remember some voices predicting huge opening week numbers for Eclipse. I personally don't conclude that Eclipse is THAT bad of a CD. I love the musical direction on the album, I just don't like the lyrical content, and there is still something about Pineda's vocals that annoys me.

strangegrey wrote:I'm glad some people here have enjoyed the album....I personally question the taste of those that like it....but you can lump together all of the post perry works of this band and eclipse currently rests right next to Dead 13, as the worst o the bunch.

I think Journey has released some really good stuff post Perry, not necessarily albums worth, but some good songs. I recently made an "Augeri" Journey CD that consisted of my favorite songs from that area, and it's a nice, rockin' CD. A few songs from Arrival, a few from Generations (although two of those songs were the Deen fronted songs, still in the Augeri era though,) and a couple from Red 13. Only a couple ballads on this CD I made. Really made me appreciate Steve Augeri's time in Journey a lot more.

strangegrey wrote:While TNC can accurately point out that this band has been sputtering around the drain since 96, the fact of the matter is that the songs are far worse on Eclipse. They aren't there. There are shining moments on every other Journey record.....I really can't identify any shining moments on this record. The above 3.5 mentioned songs are tolerable, with room for major improvement, had the band not forced out the one producer willing to work with them.

I think there are some shining moments on Eclipse with a lot of room for improvement. The music is awesome in my opinion. I just can't connect with Pineda's vocal delivery on occasions, the lyrical content just doesn't set that well with me. Journey doesn't have to write about boy meets girl or girl breaks up with boy all the time, but I don't subscribe to the Buddhist religion, and the album's concept seems to be in line with that ideology. It's very difficult to make a successful concept album anyways.

strangegrey wrote:I know that this place (or Journey's website) are the last place I will find many that agree with me, because the vast majority of posters here are way too far gone from reality...

Preach on.....

strangegrey wrote:but eclipse is one well-wrapped CD of elephant dung soaked in dog piss. I don't buy many records any more, but this is the worst record I've wasted money on in the past several years....

I wouldn't call it well-wrapped...LOL!

Rhapsody lets you stream the entire album, full length songs, at high quality. Of course, most of us didn't know this until after many had purchased the CD.
