I do seem to remember some voices predicting huge opening week numbers for Eclipse. I personally don't conclude that Eclipse is THAT bad of a CD. I love the musical direction on the album, I just don't like the lyrical content, and there is still something about Pineda's vocals that annoys me.

I think Journey has released some really good stuff post Perry, not necessarily albums worth, but some good songs. I recently made an "Augeri" Journey CD that consisted of my favorite songs from that area, and it's a nice, rockin' CD. A few songs from Arrival, a few from Generations (although two of those songs were the Deen fronted songs, still in the Augeri era though,) and a couple from Red 13. Only a couple ballads on this CD I made. Really made me appreciate Steve Augeri's time in Journey a lot more.

They aren't there. There are shining moments on every other Journey record.....I really can't identify any shining moments on this record. The above 3.5 mentioned songs are tolerable, with room for major improvement, had the band not forced out the one producer willing to work with them.
I think there are some shining moments on Eclipse with a lot of room for improvement. The music is awesome in my opinion. I just can't connect with Pineda's vocal delivery on occasions, the lyrical content just doesn't set that well with me. Journey doesn't have to write about boy meets girl or girl breaks up with boy all the time, but I don't subscribe to the Buddhist religion, and the album's concept seems to be in line with that ideology. It's very difficult to make a successful concept album anyways.

Preach on.....
strangegrey wrote:but eclipse is one well-wrapped CD of elephant dung soaked in dog piss. I don't buy many records any more, but this is the worst record I've wasted money on in the past several years....
I wouldn't call it well-wrapped...LOL!

Rhapsody lets you stream the entire album, full length songs, at high quality. Of course, most of us didn't know this until after many had purchased the CD.
