IBAWY & STR Live - Journey Tribute - Separate Ways

Postby replicaguitar » Thu Jul 14, 2011 2:10 am

Just thought i'd share a couple of vid's from our July 3rd show. Riverfront Rendezvous is Stevens Point Wisconsin's 4th of July Celebration, we were fortunate to get the Headliner spot. I wanted to check out a new ZOOM Q3 HD camera's audio quality, so i had our soundman just record a couple tunes.....so the video is not zoomed in on the stage...you can see the stage but at his distance it wouldn't have zoomed enough anyway....for those of you who like to record live music...this is the camera to buy...it can handle the low frequencies better than any other and now that ZOOM have an HD version, the video is very good also.

So here are a couple videos we shot.....songs that alot of you wish Journey would still cover...so here ya go!

If you are a facebook-er....please feel free to share the video's if you'd like.

Hi-light the "whole" link and copy into address bar...had to upload vid's to facebook because all of our YouTube vid's were taken down because of a copyright claim by Journey's lawyers...

You guys are fantastic. The band sounds great and the singer sounds even better. Great stuff. Thanks for posting it.

Just as an aside, if you ever get a link like that, that this board can't handle, try going to www.tinyurl.com and you can create it into a link this board can handle.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Thanks.....we appreciate the compliments. Spread the word.....next summer we'd really like the opportunity to travel a bit more.....We're in Green Bay, Wi...but could easily do Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa and Upper and Lower Michigan.....we'd love a shot at some HOB across the country also.

I'll definitely create a better link...thanks for the suggestion!

Wow! What a departure from the usual sound quality you normally expect from a camera. You guys sound great! Thanks for sharing both your performance as well as the heads up about that camera. Blown away by the sound quality and even more with the bass freq's it handles.

Here's a video review of the camera which shows off the camera fairly well.

Damn! This thing is a lot smaller than I would have guessed. Take this thing to the shows and REALLY capture some excellent live footage!

They do sound very good, but I suspect that the audio you're hearing is coming from the board. If not, I'm highly impressed.

That actually is NOT the board mix....that's the camera...it has 2 small condenser cartridges...set-up in an "x-y" pattern to record stereo sound. I had been looking for a camera that could handle the sound pressure of live bands and this ZOOM is the ticket for sure. The HD version is only like $269....the sound system at this venue was exceptional...8 JBL Vertec boxes flown per side with 10 Turbosound Floodlight subs per side....and a Degidesign Profile digital Mixer out front...our audio guy had a blast and did a great job. Since we headlined, we were able to do quite an extensive soundcheck early in the day, that really helps in a festival situation where it's usually a 30 minute change-over between bands....never enough time to get a really great mix set-up!

Here is actually a clip of "I'll Be Alright Without You" that someone in the audience shot with an Android phone....the sound quality is terrible and much closer to what you'd get from say a FLIPHD camera. The ZOOM had compressiona and Limiting built-in, so the closer to the source it gets, the less SPL it records....keeps it even!

Again, this clip was not recorded by us....just a random audience member...i stumbled across it on YouTube....I noticed numerous people shooting video, i hoped to find more!
