Hmmm... all the posters who hate LaDoDa & LTS are teens/in their 20's...guys not even born when these songs were originally played ad nauseam in their early concert tours  . I don't know by experience, just have the concert boots.

I believe there were talk, in those early years of neck-breaking touring, the band was writing songs geared for the live setting, and it seems to me both LaDoDa and LTS fitted perfectly. I agree, these 2 songs are not "hip" to the current young'uns. But, old geezers in the crowd might dig 'em.

It's not and there is. It's just a crappy song all the way through: horrible writing, horrible structure, and hardly a crowd favorite. There's no reason for it to be there.

WykkedSensation wrote:LTS should never be in there again unless someone else sings the thing as Pineda certainly can't.

The only reason LTS is in the set is it gives Neal an excuse to do an extended jam. There are far better written hits that they ignore because the opportunity for shredding is slim (I'll Be Alright Without You, etc.).

Augeri has nothing to do with this, so all I'll say is Arnel knocks that one out of the ballpark.

WykkedSensation wrote:Maybe Schon has realised that Eclipse just aint very good and 95% of the audience do not wanna hear it

....Because what they really want to hear is 'La Do Da', right?

La do da is a decent song. End of.
I think most people are bored shitless with hearing LTS, i know i am.
I actually agree with what you say about I'll be alright without you', thats a first and i shall make sure its the last too. Would love to hear that again but with Deen vocal and NOT Pineda.
Regarding When you love a woman, Augeri was ALWAYS total shite on that song, and i wasn't on about him anyway.
Maybe a lot of the audience don't wanna hear La do da (i would) as there are loads of others to choose from, but most sure as hell DO NOT wanna hear Eclipse, Thats for sure. :D

If by "end of" you mean it should be the end of La Do Da's time in the set, I agree, because it's just awful.

+1

Pineda's voice is more suited for it and I believe he could do the song some serious justice.

I realize. I was simply poking fun at Perry, lumping him in the same category as a 2006-era Augeri in terms of a voice.

I wouldn't. As mentioned before, it's a disaster and testament to the overarching problem of the pre-Cain era: horrendous writing and lackluster structure.

jestor92 wrote:As an encore though...that's a bit strange.

It's not the placement in the set so much as its presence there that's the problem.

jestor92 wrote:Also LTS is one of my top 5 JRNY songs and I have no problems with that song in the set.

To each his own. I personally find it awful.

LTS sucks balls, no doubt about it. I still pick the Rollie era over Cain's though. The latter is just too gay and pop-sounding.

Good to see La Do Da in the set. They should add Line of Fire too. And they should play no less than 3 Eclipse tracks a nite.

Nothing to do with youngens. I know enough of the Journey catalog and I can pick 20 gems that are NOT in the dirty dozen to play in a live setting than La Do Da. I don't get why they aren't playing new material and would rather play a track like La Do Da as a freakin' encore. An encore should be one of the bands most famous, best sought out, well known rockers. Ending with LTS and La Do Da does nothing but leave a bad taste in a concert goers mouth. I love all Journey music, am a huge JRNY fan, they are #1 in my book but that doesn't mean I can't hate some songs. I just don't care for La Do Da in a live setting . So much more intriguing tracks to pick from.

Open Arms needs to be cacked too. What a drowner but I know how important it is to the catalog. :)

Why couldn't you have just stopped here?

 :?

Not me. Rolie's era was rife with pop-sounding gayness and if need be I can provide examples. There are simply two critical differences: Cain is a vastly superior writer and more complete musician and the Cain-era also produced their hardest rocking songs.

Cain played a keytar. Hey, but if you like to toss dude's salads and dress up in a cute skirt, then that's your prerogative. No hate, brah. Neal said it himself, when describing how after Escape, it was mainly women coming to the concerts. They were at least somewhat cool when Rollie was playing pocket tennis behind the hammond B3. Pretty sure Cain is equipped with an above average clitoris.

Hey, but whatever floats your boat. :)

The irony of the Frenchman saying this to the American is not lost on me.

So being surrounded by adulating, fawning, and most likely topless women is an automatic indicator of homosexuality? I'm so confused. :o :?

It is somewhat ironic, but if a girl likes a band, then it's gay. Here's a few examples: Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber and whatever emo rock band one can come up with. Why? Because girls taste in music is shit. Listening to a girl talk about music, is even more painful than having some poptart talk about sport - and no, dance is not a sport. However; let's say I mention I like Pink Floyd to some girl. If she too likes PL, then she's a lesbian. And we all know lesbians = wig wearing men with tiny clitoris-shaped penises and gynecomastia.

Face it: Journey was much more of a band, and not some commercial, big corporate pop-bullshit prior to Cain.

There are plenty of women around here who express deep love for the Rolie-era, though. You're not making any sense; perhaps it's time to wave the white flag?

LOL @ the rest of your post.

I'm half and half when it comes to the Rollie/Cain deal.

I think the band rocked harder with Rollie, but the song writing became better with Cain.
