Is Journey Management Brain Dead?

Postby steveo777 » Sun Aug 28, 2011 1:57 pm

Seriously! I have been looking at the set lists for the last several shows and they suck. La Do Da?
I thought this was the Ecl1p53 tour!?!?! WTF? Nothing from Revelation gets played anymore and then
they keep playing two of the worst fucking tracks off the new album and using La DO DO as a filler, that
could be time spent on a much better song. Does Baruck make these decisions? If so, next time someone
gets close to him, could you kick him squarely in the manhood?

/end rant

I don't know Steve...but I'm heading to Florida for a weekend and a couple shows next month and I really hope they keep La Do Da (get it right!) in the set. Pretty much of a salute to the older fans out there and a really fun song live. Also, EOTM is one of may favorites from Eclipse. The band decides what they play each night based on the audience, I'm happy!! Now how many concerts have you been to??

BTW...will we be seeing you in Vegas??

Val, I have a limited budget and I am really trying to get somewhere this year, but the way money on the come works (read commission sales), I just don't have it figured out yet.
I know I sound like I'm bitching and really I should be grateful, but it just seems like more stuff should be played than is lately. The set lists are too predictable. I'd love to come to Vegas. I think it would be really fun to meet some of you. I'm working hard, infact I've taken only 1 full day off this entire month!

The setlist for the rescheduled VA show should be interesting with it being just Journey and Night Ranger. Longer sets for both bands. Maybe Journey will be trying out some different songs! I would love to be there for this one!!

Really concerned about Mick Jones, hope he is OK!!

To answer the thread's question: Yes, but management isn't the only one to blame. There's enough stupidity to be distributed evenly among the power players.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

As ridiculous as this is going to sound, I swear with my hand to God there is no better way to experience Journey live than attending one of the handful of private shows they do each tour. I've been to 3 and I'm here to tell you, those shows are a completely different experience. If you're fortunate enough to wiggle your way into one of them, the first and perhaps the best thing you'll notice is other than the cost of physically getting yourself geographically to the venue where they're playing, it didn't cost you anything to attend the show. Then there's the intimate and relaxed atmosphere that exists. Not a burly, bald guy toting a walkie with an earpiece and a black t-shirt and yellow jacket to be seen anywhere. Then once they start playing you are free to roam around and basically be wherever you want to be - with the exception of actually on the stage of course... :P 8) After about an hour or so, the band will sometimes take a short intermission. It's at this moment that you realize a normal concert will never be the same again as you spot the band members one by one mingling about the crowd, sipping cocktails, engaging in conversation and basically being regular people and enjoying the moment. The second set is roughly the same length as the first and it hits you that the setlist is different somehow.... they're only playing the songs you like best (for the ost part) and that's because the event planner for this event got to hand select the setlist - and when you're shelling out $175,000+ for the evening's entertainment, then by God you'd better have some say-so! Perhaps one of the coolest aspects of seeing the band perform this way is the fact that they flew in for this performance and they'll be staying the night at the closest, nicest hotel that's been arranged for them where after eating dinner, they will be kicking back in the hotel's lounge until the wee hours, having a few cocktails and chatting with the fans who also happened to be in the same lounge. The memories you'll take away from that night will make every other show you ever attend seem like you're at a hobo sex festival being forced to listen to cats fight and best of all... you paid to be there.

Deep? Oh you have no idea my brother! There's places in my head psychiatrists won't go without a court order and a priest!

Any particular reason you capitalized cantaloupe? Maybe it's a Freudian thing since you used "Fuck" just before it, you somehow saw the melon as a sexual being and validated it by addressing its name as a pronoun. Or maybe it's just a typo. No biggie.  How was that? Deep enough for ya?
