when I saw them a few years ago, all he did was cater to the first few rows. Maybe that's changed, but I doubt it.
2. The accent problems
Again, when I saw them, this was a major problem....not in the singing, but communicating with the audience. You couldn't understand a damn word he was saying. It was pointless.
3. The harshness of the vocals
I disagree here...the guy can sing.
4. The "reading from a monitor" feeling when singing the songs
It just felt routine...hard to describe. Almost like it was on tape

I'm just kidding...I really don't hear any issues with how he sings most of the songs...he has his high points and lows, but I don't think he is any worse, or better, then any other lead singer Journey has ever had.
5. No connection whatsoever with the rest of the band onstage
I would agree with that...but he seems to focus on the first few rows and interacts with them...ignore the band, and ignore the audience from 20rows back or more. That is where his focus is. The rest of the band, well, I think their focus is the $'s anyway.
6. No connection between the others; Ross making faces and no one in the band taking notice etc
I agree.
It's evident JRNY's just a way to pay the bills nowadays, not a real band like they were with Perry, Augeri and JSS.
It's been that way for a long time...even back to the last couple of the Augeri years.
