This interview was done with the knowledge that it was streaming live and being recorded for a later broadcast. Andrew's interview was not so it's a whole different situation as far as posting the audio. Steve has done several interviews for print only and several for broadcast. But I think he gave Drew a very special interview. :)

Picture?

I agree with ya on Drew's interview. It even comes across in transcribed print, he seemed so much more open and relaxed than in any interview I've heard or read from him in a looooong time. :)

Listening to it now. At the 8:40 mark or so, Perry emphatically reminds the listeners about how much Cain and Schon contributed to the music. He knows full well it wasn't a one-man show and, as a fan, I'm impressed by that.

He sounds painfully honest about everything including the band, his health and his voice. I think he's in the best place he's been since the breakup and pray I will still get to see him live before I leave this earth!
Come back Steve Perry!!

I love it where Steve's talking about Sam Cooke hearing him on his mom's car radio..
That cars only had 1 speaker in the middle of the dash..

Those were those great AM only radio stations back then.( in the 60s tho).... I can remember how
hard those buttons were to push as a lil kid lol...& dad couldn't quit pushing them buttons..
(which in turn...pushed moms buttons lol)....
Summer vacations driving down Route 66 & listening to WLS... :D :D

Just got to that part. Good stuff.

Gideon wrote:Perry sings a lyric from Sam Cooke's "Cupid" at the 20:50 mark on the video {for those among us who haven't found it}. The audio is less-than-ideal {it's over a telephone}, but it sounded fairly crisp and high pitched. Not bad at all.

A decent Levi Stubbs singing impersonation at 23:29, showcasing lower range and grittier pitch.

FINALLY someone asks him about his V O I C E. Man, what took so long?
And he answers. Very cool. Listen to him laugh, he sounds like he's been on the road 6 months. Very hoarse. But anti-inflammatories are really bad for your voice and if that's what he's doing, that's going to make things more difficult for him. Still, good to hear him talk about THE VOICE and how it would work as far as getting it back in shape, etc. cool. Sorry, but when it comes to Perry, I could give a crap about his cats or baseball. I want to hear about his voice and music he's doing now.
