Sounding nice for their 1st show. Separate ways is slamming. Would love to hear the whole thing. The whole band just plays the songs with the right feel a lot of that thanks to their drummer who is a monster in his own right.. They are all awesome musicians which is obvious.. I think vocally it is a little more work for Jason because he isnt 25 anymore but that isnt a put down because he sounds great. Think he is still getting used to singing up in that high tenor range again. Jason has a little moment in Faithfully that is just a slight break in his voice and I think it is great that it is in there. The performance is honest and not tweaked or fixed obviously.

Man, during Separate Ways it is almost spooky. Reminds me of the Day On the Green version where Perry still had that Escape tone. The band sounds damn powerful.

My initial impression is about a 6/10 and that's being generous. He has his moments, but the sustained notes are making me cringe. I'm with FamilyMan on this one: Jeremey is better and this guy doesn't sound nearly as good as he did during Escape's heyday.

I think the band sounds great. The guitarist has some very scary-good moments where I forget it isn't Schon up there. Bass and keyboards are equally as strong, but I agree with you about the drummer in particular. He really nails Smitty's feel. The band is really, really strong. Instrumentally, they sound like Journey, as opposed to most group that are just playing the notes. These guys really have Journey's instrumental feel down. That's very difficult to do. They really should lay down some original music.

I can't stand the tribute bands that go out there with the wigs, the tight pants and the gay Perry mechanisms to get the "full effect." Just makes you look corny. The music should speak for itself, not wigs and red coattails. Not bad though, I enjoyed the clip.

Ya know, I saw another clip on youtube of him with a different band and he had the same hair. We sure the wig isnt for another reason ? Why would he wear it when not playing Journey ? I agree Jason has some catching up to do. He is singing the toughest catalog there is in rock nearly so.... I guess it is a matter of opinion. I dont agree that Frontiers clean their clock by any stretch. I think both bands have their strong points. What I notice the most is that Escape's versions feel more right.. Scott Dunn is the only drummer I have heard that gets smittys feel down. I wish the real thing was still around too but it isnt. None of these guys are gonna sound like Perry but the vibe of their over all shows captures that feel of an old show as close as it is gonna get. I would love to catch Frontiers live but they never come to Louisville. Lets give Jason some more time to adjust. He has only been away from this material for 14 years... There were times where Scott REALLY had it (in this video), and then there were times where the sound wasn't quite right, but i'm thinking it's more the guitar tone than his playing.

I agree about Neal with Journey these days. I think Neal really wants to be seen as a rocker, especially by his peers. Feels like he's looking to earn the kudos he was always (wrongfully) denied, but the truth is (and I know I'll get flamed for this), he really isn't a simple rocker. He's a melodic guy who can rock. Even when he's trying to rock and shred, which requires a measure of simplicity, his melodic tendencies show through. That voice he gives his guitar, choices a singer would make, are everywhere.

Perry squeezed his inner artist out of him. Without him around, forcing Neal to do it, he's slipped into the shred zone and it feels aimless. Shame. He needs to accept who and what he is instead of trying to be something he's not. That will get him back into the pocket (I personally) admire him for.

I for one respect all of the singers and Musicians that attempt this material. I remember the first time I heard Jason sing I was floored. That Kid has talent. I wish all the Tributes nothing but the best and If I could help any of them I would.

The keyboard player is great and the guitar player is good.

The drummer is decent, but way too heavy-handed on the slow stuff, especially Send Her My Love.

Lastly, Kelty sounds like a pale shadow of himself.

First off, Mark, thank you for the support and spreading the word! You are a a good dude. Thanks to all of you that checked out the video and for your feedback. While we were not at all happy with the light or sound production, the show was fun, the crowd was great and we got some good video. Of course nothing is as good as a live show and those that have seen us live know what I'm talking about

While Jason may have some interesting views , the guy is an extremely talented musician, and a good guy, and while we don't share his view on certain topics, that doesn't diminish his talent or ability to put on a good performance which is what it's all about.
