Fans who caught Journey in concert with Foreigner last fall at Bridgestone Arena have the opportunity to get much closer to the “Any Way You Want It” singers Friday when the band plays a benefit concert for Franklin Road Academy at TPAC.
Jonathan Cain, keyboardist for the group, lives in Brentwood, and his 15-year-old twins attend the school.
“It’s a good place, and they’ve been really great to my kids,” Cain says. “It’s one of the reasons we moved here, really.”
But Cain says that’s where his promotion of the school stops. He says fans will get the standard 90-minute hit parade free of further requests for money.
“We’ll be doing everyone’s favorites, similar to what we did at Bridgestone,” he says. “There’ll be no propaganda. We’re not going to get up there and squeeze people for money.”
The Cain family moved to Middle Tennessee about 3½ years ago, and Cain says this is just one of the ways they are integrating themselves into the community. He’s also building a full-fledged commercial recording facility in Berry Hill.
“I thought it was time to make a footprint here,” Cain says. “I suppose that down the road we’ll do a Journey album here. It’s been a good move for me and my family.”
Journey will play TPAC’s Jackson Hall at 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $87.50-$152.50 and are available at
