While I arrived rather late in the game to the Melodic Rock forum I don't recall anyone ever mentioning Neal Schon's collaboration with one of my musical idols, Paul Rogers on the "Hendrix Set" I believe this was recorded back in 1993. I find this to be an interesting collaboration and I also liked what Neal did on Born Under a Bad Sign which was a cut on Paul's Muddy Waters Blues: A Tribute To Muddy Waters. What other interesting collaborations has Neal done over the years?

Todd Jensen who played bass in Hardline and on Steve Perry's FTLOSM tour was also the bass player on tour with Rodgers, Schon and Castronovo.

One of these days I intend to make a list of all of the albums that I have with Neal Schon playing guitar on them, and see how many he has done that I don't have. It will be a short list of those that I don't have. The list of albums that he has played on is too long for me to list right now.

The other CD that people seem to be surprised about is the Just-If-I album with Mike Reno.

Probably the most disappointing album that Neal ever took part in. The greatest guitarist in the world, working with a top 10 vocalist, and yet it was largely boring.

I still think the best one that no one knows about was the Cain/Schon collaboration with Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes on his Freight Train Heart album. BIG album over there, and really helped solidify Barnes as a solo singer after leaving Cold Chisel. Cain produced, both played on the album (or at least parts of it), and a bunch of the songs were Cain/Barnes cowrites, including one Barnes/Cain/Schon writing credit.

yea, I think Joe improved it. Always thought the live version on Barnestorming was a lot better than the studio cut but the remake is better than both. Actually, that goes for almost all of the FTH cd--I think JB is a little too rock and push the tempo for Cain. I always wondered how that partnership started, as Barnes has stated before he was not a Journey fan.
