GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda has contracted severe laryngeal and esophageal inflammation, forcing the cancellation of several of the band's tour dates, including its Sat., Nov. 10, 2012 stop at Van Andel Arena.

The show will be rescheduled for Jan. or Feb. of 2013, according to a press release. No specific date has been determined yet.

Tickets for the Nov. 10 concert will be honored for the new date. Refunds are also available at point of purchase.

Pineda is under doctor's orders not to sing for the next week, so the band pulled the plug on five shows taking place between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14, 2012. Pat Benatar and Loverboy were the opening acts.

As a consolation to Journey ticketholders, SMG Grand Rapids, which manages Van Andel Arena events, is offering buy-one-get-one-free tickets to the Wine, Beer and Food Festival taking place Nov. 8-10, 2012 at DeVos Place. Bring your Journey ticket to the DeVos Place box office to redeem the deal.
Cancelled/postponed shows:

Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Ford Center in Evansville, IN
Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN
Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the i wireless Center in Moline, IL
Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Tyson Center in Sioux City, IA

Neal has to be getting a little nervous about his cash cow wearing out. Especially in lieu of his recent spending spree

How about wishing Arnel well, instead of concerning yourself about the soap opera stuff? ;)

Not quite the context, but in a nutshell, you are correct. Can't argue with dimwits that don't see what's really going on. A trillion dollars a year is flushed down the toilet because America has lost it's balls and won't stand up for what is right or wrong. We are too PC....can't say what we think. That is worse than communism.

Wow, is this the beginning of the end? When I saw Journey in September, Arnel was sick then. He sounded good though, but he was taking oxygen and throat spray in between songs, so this is more than Arnel just being sick in my opinion.

They really should kill the tour for the rest of the year before it gets worse.

That's what I am afraid of.. Cancelling the tour (which I understand) to let him rest/recoop. Which I understand, but...

The 1s time in like 32 years Journey does Western Canada and go figure.. He gets sick.

AND

They bring Night Ranger with them on this leg.. For the 1st time in Western Canada EVER..

Man it would really suck, cause I know NR won't be back..

I have it on good authority that this issue was a health scare and Arnel will be fine very soon. There is no damage, thank God! He just fell ill, that's all. Nothing more to it. His voice is not blown out, not even close.

Calling Karma on what happened to Arnel is a bit lame. What did Arnel do to deserve "Karma". The shit you are trying to fling is entirely misdirected. Journey made to correct move as far as JSS is concerned and the results show it. Pull your undies out of your crack and get over it.

I agree that bad Karma shouldn't be wished on Arnel, by any means. But they did fuck Jeff over pretty good. I don't espouse the hatred about it that FJF does, and I don't think JSS does either, but I suspect that's personal for him, and he's entitled to not like what they did. But you're dead right, Steve, in the fact that Arnel doesn't deserve any hate over any of it.

First, let me thank you for responding to my post. I needed someone to remind me to pull my undies out of my crack...

The karma to which I was referring was in reference to Journey the band, not to Arnel the singer. Why would I wish ill on him?

I was talking about Journey being forced to cancel tour dates after burning out SA, using JSS & then kicking him to the curb.

And might I recommend trying the next size panties for yourself. Maybe then you won't feel the need to jump on people who have opinions.

If he has got a virus which has caused this, then it is right to have rest for at least a week.
More if possible. No talking, singing or even whispering.

If it's vocal strain or voice problems because of that impossibly high Journey catalogue - then ...............good luck to the guy. His days are numbered.

But most people get a cold virus at least twice a year. He's only human.
Let's hope it's nothing serious.

Well, "good authority" had the same thing to say about Perry during FTLOSM.

Sometimes common sense is a better thing to listen to.

They are doing the same to Arnel that they did to Augeri. Take a year off or find a new singer.

Like I said at the time they sacked JSS - the Journey singer's job is a poisoned chalice. Any singer who accepts the Journey job had better make sure they get paid enough to never need to work again after their tenure is over.

Those songs in those high keys will kill ya.
