I really can't see Arnel doing that.

Yeah, Perry's gift was in crafting the song more than the actual writing. That's what I think Arnel clearly lacks; you can even tell in his singing. No polish.

I stopped being a Journey fan when Steve left so I am no expert on the years between Perry and Arnel. Wasn't the Augeri years all fake, he could not sing the songs and taped the songs? When I heard that my heart dropped??? Did they have record deals in between?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Augeri
They tried to REPLACE Steve, why not find a good singer for the direction you wish to take Journey and let them sing Perrys songs the way they want?
They didn't try to replace him.. they had no choice.. Steve's illness really screwed his voice up, he literally could not sing. His successor was Jeff Scott Soto.. no slouch. Journey even proclaimed they were moving in a new direction.. only to fire Jeff after one tour.

***Sorry I meant Steve Perry ***
As far as Arnel I have nothing against him, the hype came from the fact of where he came from and how he was found. Now the hype is Neals personal life these things feed Journey. Right now Neal is pushing his solo project and not Journey, so that tells me a lot.
Arnel isn't "hype".. he can really sing. The problem is that's all he can do. He's not a writer of Perry's caliber, and more importantly if he is, we'll never know because he's not an EQUAL writing partner (as Perry was) with Jon and Neal. Arnel really just sings.
I have been a fan since 1977 but now Journey is done for me, someone on Facebook said and I agree "Journey is now a Tribute Band". I will stay around and watch the sinking ship! And buy the new CD from Steve Perry. :D
AP has a great singing voice, that no one can dispute. But I did find disconcerting Arnel was telling everyone in his Eclipse interview how Jon was coaching him on how to sing the songs. Can you imagine SP needing anyone to "coach" him to sing any Journey song?

They tried to REPLACE Steve, why not find a good singer for the direction you wish to take Journey and let them sing Perrys songs the way they want?
They didn't try to replace him.. they had no choice.. Steve's illness really screwed his voice up, he literally could not sing. His successor was Jeff Scott Soto.. no slouch. Journey even proclaimed they were moving in a new direction.. only to fire Jeff after one tour.

It's true Journey does appear to be in the twilight of their career.

I stopped being a Journey fan when Steve left so I am no expert on the years between Perry and Arnel. Wasn't the Augeri years all fake, he could not sing the songs and taped the songs? When I heard that my heart dropped??? Did they have record deals in between?
