Fresh from the Manchester show tonight.

"Just got in from the Manchester show and it appears what most people on here are saying happened again tonight!
The sound for Thunder and Whitesnake was perfect but Journey were all over the place - vocals completely drowned out - could not tell a word he was singing. My girlfriend said it was like the other two bands were in "HD" compared to Journey.....sort your sound out guys, people were walking out - as did we...after sticking it out until Dont Stop Believing" struck up and finished it off for us "

"Left the Manchester gig after approx 30 mins due to sound. As per comments above, Whitesnake & Thunder fine, Journey terrible from the off. We kept waiting for things to improve.... they didn't. We are big Journey fans & like most, bought these tickets on pre-release date so this was huge disappointment. We saw Rush at the same venue last night. From the first note to the last, cracking sound. Watching the Journey sound engineers, there was no apparent panic.. they must have thought all was well. This is the first time I have left a gig early... We do not blame the band, they were definitely doing their job. I actually feel really sorry for the band. I hope they don't think it is UK audiences that that are not up for it as this may reduce the chances of them returning. However, based on our experience, those of the droves leaving early tonight & the comments from Sheffield etc above, there is plainly an issue. Journey, you need to sort this, sorry guys..."

"Is their sound engineer deaf? You could barely tell what song was playing until the chorus... abysmal. I bow down to thunder and am not worthy to witness the cracking show from whitesnake but what a damp squib journey were..."

"Journey's sound was a disaster unfortunately in manchester. Normally their sound is fantastic but with a snare drum that sounded like a dustbin lid, was hard to get into. Neil's Guitar was also a disaster. Sorry guys, love the music and I've seen you 4 times, but you have a problem with the sound engineer. Whitenake and Thunder blew you away. Good luck for rest of tour."

"i also went manchester and i thought it was the worst gig i have ever been to, seen journey 4 times now, that will also be my last, everyone was walking out, very poor performance, they put nothing into it"

"Yep, couldn't hear the singing on the upper level. Wouldn't say it was the worst gig & I think people only left early to beat the inevitable jams out of the car park but disappointed."

This is not about song selection, or audio issues. This billing is wrong. Fans of heavy metal bands think Journey is cheese and fluff. They already have the decked stacked against them. But I will say -- opening with Separate Ways, with its dated synth keyboard chain -- is foolish. If they have any hope of keeping the metal heads from leaving, they need to let Neal loose and open the show with something hard driving.

You are right about the billing being wrong. Now what about the sound quality? Why are these other bands handing Journey's asses to them on the basis of sound?
