Journey donates $350,000 to feed typhoon victims

I donated. I hope more people around here show some support. They need it. $350,000 is a very nice sum, but it is way far from even being close to what is needed. I stopped my son last night, who was getting ready to send a trunk load of used clothes, packaged food and merchandise. Those things should not be sent at this time. It will only impede the traffic of getting to the most basic needs. People can't deal with a bunch of boxes. They need roads cleared, injured and dead found and lots and lots of prayers and healing.

My company has staff in Cebu, including Doctors. They are out on a mission this weekend providing care. We are donating as well. While our staff survived ok, many have missing family members.

Rock to the Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to build strong, healthy communities through the support of grassroots organizations across the country. Rock to the Rescue originally started in 2001 as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and is the brainchild of STYX’s Tommy Shaw and REO SPEEDWAGON’s Kevin Cronin. The two musicians brought together bands and artists such as Bad Company, Journey, Survivor, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others to be part of “Volunteers For America” concert events in Dallas and Atlanta that ultimately raised over $775,000 for victims of 9/11, as well as the Port Authority police department in New York City. I do think the amount is a bit on the low side especially when you consider that their lead vocalist is from the country where the typhoon hit. I ask myself if a hurricane or tornado were to hit SF or Tennessee would Journey give the same amount of money and the answer is I think they would give more.

Natural disasters have hit various cities throughout the U.S. over the past 20 years. How much have they given during these previous natural disasters within the U.S.? I don't donate within America because I'm already donating via taxes that I pay.
