Steve Perry Coming Back To Journey?!

Journey the band may get back together, because not only Steve Perry has jumped on stage for the first time since 1995 in Washington D.C., but we caught Deen Castronovo in D.C. at the same time!

Don't know if this is TMZ's vid that Neal is going all ballistic about...
' lame TMZ borderline racist remark ' on his FB...
but I guess I'm not hearing the same... :?:

I think it's one thing to bitch and moan around here about things, but that TMZ spot was indicative of what they normally are - pieces of shit. The back to karaoke comment and the laughter is fine in a room full of people with no cameras rolling and no national (rather, worldwide) audience if that's how you feel. I'm not all that inspired by Journey post-Perry, but I can certainly respect a guy like Arnel for what he has done for the band and for the talent he has. Love or hate him, there is no question that he is a good guy that gives 110% each night in a gig that was never going to be easy. And he's far beyond a karaoke singer.

Fuck TMZ. They cater to the worst of our brains.

I thought Deen could have answered better.

I thought TMZ did a little better research. They said Deen had no reason to be in DC at the same time as SP. Did they not know Journey was at Jiffy Lube Live?

However, I don't think the comments or the laughter were indicative of a racial animosity. A big deal was made of Arnel's background when he joined the band and they wanted to play up his story. Basically I took it as 'they brought him here, but if SP gets back in the picture they'll seen him back home'. Arnel does everything you say, but even the morons at TMZ understand that hey, it's SteveMFPerry we're talking about! :)

Deen's comments are puzzling... If there were truly NO talks going on at all, why didn't he just say that, like the others have. He took a lesson or 2 from Patches O'Houlihan it seems... :| :D

Deen did what Neal never learned to do....STFU when it comes to Perry (not that he 's said much this time). Everybody knows Perry and Journey aren't reuniting. How many ways does Perry have to say it before media stop asking? I guess, look no further than Plant and Zeppelin. Plant said the '02 was a one time charity event for A.E. and the media ask all the former members the same question in every interview. Plant dances around the question most of the time and Page eventually blows a gasket that Plant won't commit. At least Perry has made it absolutely clear.

I can honestly say I dont ever see Steve Perry rejoining Journey. I believe him when he says, he is a different person, and is no longer interested in being that person, in that band again. I could see him putting out a solo album and possibly doing a short solo tour in small theatres a few days a week. No way will he ever do the extensive touring Journey still does and I dont blame him either. It would be really cool to see him put out new material again though. He still has the gift and it would be great to hear it.

This thread prompted me to go look at the Journey FB page. The conclusion I reached is that NS should be restricted to only using his guitar to communicate. Seems to be the only time his tapping fingers are able to make grownup sounds.

I get Neal being annoyed, but the bottom line is someone is always going to be asking the question. Rumors died down over the years because Perry was virtually a hermit and nobody heard from him often. Now he's decided to come out a bit, so of course the question is going to be asked, and far more frequently. That doesn't excuse TMZ for manufacturing a story, but I bet Neal didn't mind when all the same media outlets focused the attention on him and his current wife!

no such thing as bad PR folks. Perry resurfacing only helps the band. People hear Perry in the news... makes them think about Journey... makes them google Journey... they find out they're on the road again...some go see.

It shouldn't bother any of them.

Agreed. Between The Sopranos, Glee, Arnel, and (now) Perry's return to the stage, Journey gets more publicity than most bands from the same time period.

Fans viewpoints have evolved over the years, just as the Journey guys have themselves softened their positions regarding each other. I remember back in the SA days, ANY news concerning SP that made it to on the news lit up the Boards with disdain by Journey Loyalists ... like, the guy is retired ,,, quit trying to steal the limelight from the Boys... he's only out to get attention ...or this, Sony/SP has a conspiracy to up-one Journey... every time Journey comes out with something new, Perry re-masters a record/dvd ....

Argument/disagreement still run rampant .... only a different dynamic ... nowadays

Any publicity surround SP is good publicity for the Band... that's not how people thought in those days...anyway, not from SA's fans (aka, the wigglers).
