I think their dialog doesn't really have anything to do with future musical collaboration in formal form. I could be wrong, but what I think is going on is they are a bit older now, a lot more calmed down but most of all, they realize probably through the passing of mutual friends, acquaintances and such of their age group, that life is short and are in a way burying whatever axe they may have had with one another. Sort of like Cheech & Chong did some years back. This is what a lot of old people do when they get old. They realize life is short and the end could come at any time, so what the heck, just be done with whatever the issue was and talk. That's what I think is going on. But I'd be the first to admit that if they did get together and did some music I'd be shocked to shit.

They haven't "spoken" to each other since the last time they recorded... that would be 1995 when they recorded Trial By Fire...

That's 17 years, and in the interim Perry has clearly chosen different friends (musical and otherwise). How much more obvious could it be that Perry prefers to not associate with Neal on a personal OR musical level?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Wow, by the tone of this, it sounds like they'd not hesitate to kick each other in the nuts given the opportunity.

Actually, they did talk to each other at the Hollywood Star induction ceremony...

Yep, there's video of Perry with Neal being interviewed. Neal says something about wanting Perry to come sing with them and Perry deflects it with something like "I'm just happy to see the band".

And "just happy with the booming royalties over the past six years now" as well.

I meant "spoken" as in actually doing it intentionally...

Sadly for all those wishing for a (another) reunion, this seems to be true. Neal has been saying "open door policy" since the SA days (2005 MR interview). Most loons at the Perryville site (I was one of them) scoffed at that gesture as empty platitude ..."why should SP take Neal up on that...give Journey free promotion? Get rid of their lead singer first, then talk." Well, it did happen ... 2 changes thus far... still, no SP announcement. Seems just not meant to be.

Speaking of '05, when SP came out of his self-imposed "recluse" moniker to join the WhiteSox W/S run, I remember JC got a few interviews as he was a Chicago boy. Don't know if Jon's a Cub or Sox fan ...anyway, interviews with SP also in the news invariably lead to "what does Journey think of their ex-frontman and whether there could be a future collaboration." Jon said he knew SP always liked baseball and was happy to see him out and about. He also said they were a good writing team, misses those times, and wished they could get together to do something again.

To me, thinking back to these statements from Neal/Jon is telling. In retrospect, 2005 was the beginning of SA's throat problems and the start of tapegate. Could the guys already be anticipating SA's demise and extending an olive branch to SP to come back? Remember, this was also around the time when we heard for the first time in many a moon ... and uttered out of SP's own mouth...that he was "practicing scales" and "to see what I've got left." Also, SA's interview with Andrew here on MR, when asked about what he thought of Neal's invitation to SP, said if ever SP wanted back in the band, he would gladly step aside.

Things that make you go.... hmmmm. I swear, I lead a very fulfilling life. Journey is not on my mind ordinarily...and, certainly, not during the day. But I do suffer from insomniac most nights, and this is the only messageboard I get on to read and post. When I get tired out, I go to sleep. Which is what I going to do right on... 'til tomorrow???

Maybe if everyone would have just left them alone they would of eventually gotten back together on their own in the first place.

What sort of legal stuff did Parry put in place?
