The Maroon 5 guys came to our office once when we were running their fan club and they were freaking out over all the Journey stuff we had on the walls (platinum albums, posters, photos, etc). We gave them a framed Journey poster from the Captured era and they put it on their tour bus. So cute.
P.S. I don't think that guy sounded like Steve at all. And his version of "Lights" was just....meh.
Are you still running M5's fan club? Did Bad @$$ Steve Perry ever get to meet M5? Sonny & Share the details! I wonder where they keep that Journey poster now.
I think the judges only turned around because they recognized "Lights" not because the performance was soooo good. It's like if you want to survive "Talent Night" on Showtime At The Apollo you'd better sing something from Dreamgirls like "And I Am Telling You" or "Changing". Definitely a case of it's the song, not the singer.
Journey needs to stop allowing Laddy, Dawdie, and Everybody cover their songs on national TV. They're stinking up the joint.

Adam Levine said "You remind me of Steve Perry- who's one of the most bad ass singers ever", which got a cheer from the audience.
I didn't think he was that good. He went with Blake Shelton.

Maloney has some clips on Youtube singing Journey with Kevin Chalfant.
Kevin Chalfant is the Boogieman of The Journey Forum

. If you say "Journey" three times while spinning around in a darkened bathroom- Kevin Chalfant will appear in the mirror singing "Don't Stop Believin'" and telling you he was in Journey Tooooooo -Booooooooo!!!!"

Even when a thread has nothing to do with him, he manages to find a way to appear and make it all about himself.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYUoKn4yQ30I'm curious as to how those two got together. And RWM was either deceiving the audience/doesn't have all the facts/was deceived- Chalfant was NEVER in Journey. To introduce him to the audience like he was- was dishonest. Still singing with KC was probably the highlight of his career until he got a 4 chair turn on The Voice.
