Jimmy Fallon?

Michael McDonald is scheduled to reunite with the Doobie Brothers tonight on Fallon's show. Since he seems to have the magical touch of bringing nostalgia back (Christopher Cross was on last week, plus he does numerous 80's flashback segments with original cast and band members)....maybe, just maybe he is the one who could bring Perry and the boys back together again, even for just one fun night. Hmmmm...

Not enough money in the world for that to happen....IMHO. Much as I would like to see it.

Jimmy Fallon ran into SP at Capital records and SP gave him some vocal coaching.
That was a few years back... but at least they've already met. :D

... Fallon later headed to Capitol Records, where he recorded his vocal tracks for “Born to Run” in Studio A, the same legendary studio where Frank Sinatra once recorded.

And to add to the surreal factor, former Journey frontman Steve Perry happened to be there, and wound up giving Fallon some vocal coaching...

Mcdonald reunited once before (at least) and it was good to hear. The youtube video brought up a Kenny Loggins/Mcdonald duet with If this is it. Has Perry ever guested vocals live on Don't fight it? If not, would be a great to hear.

The only stars I could see aligning now for a possible Perry reunion would have to do with Steve Smith. With the future of the band's drumming duties so uncertain, I wonder if Neal could convince Smitty to return in some fashion - even if it's for a limited run or small series of dates. Perhaps then - since it's the legacy lineup - SP would consider a walk-on. But I don't see him doing shtick on a show like Fallon's.

Yeah, I thought that McDonald had reunited with them at least once in the past. Not sure if Perry ever guested with Loggins. The only live recording of it that I'm aware of is of Journey's '83 show in Tokyo. Perry sang both parts, and kind of gives each part their own feel, as if it is still a duet.

McDonald has guested with the Doobies many times. They're on perfectly good terms, McDonald is just happier doing his solo thing, I guess. (I know there's been talks of a full joint tour, but it hasn't come together, presumably for money/management reasons)
