Back in '05 I had the pleasure of seeing Smith reunite on stage with Journey at the walk of fame after concert at the House of Blues. He only sat in for two songs, but good LORD the difference in Journey's sound was night and day with Smith on the kit. It wasn't lost on the rest of the band either. You could see it on their faces, as Neal and Ross both turned to Smith as they played. This was the super instrumental rock group Journey, with their chemistry intact. I look forward to experiencing this again across an entire set. Did I mention I'm super excited?
WELCOME BACK STEVE SMITH -- AND THANK YOU NEAL SCHON!!!!

Separate Ways was one of them...I don't remember the other. Aynsley also sat in for Wheel in the Sky.

Separate Ways and the other was Chain Reaction. Blew the doors off that one. Augeri sang it. Dean was sitting behind Smith on the floor watching him pound his own kit with so much glee on his face he looked like a giddy schoolboy (in a good way).
Ansley sat in for wheel in the sky. Fleishman attempted to sing it, but couldn't hit the notes. Augeri had to step in to help him with the high parts. So much for his claims of his 5 octave range in his recent interviews. If he did have it, it was way back when. He certainly didn't have it in 05'.

It amazes me that there is no footage from that show (audio/video) -- at least none that I'm aware of.

Yeah, but when you say that, you literally mean seeing them... as in hanging out with them back stage! (((envy)))![]()
