Those first 3 albums were mostly Progressive Rock. But there are a few songs, "Hustler" being one of them, that are not only still in a Progressive Rock mode, but are also very heavy. I've always considered "Hustler" to be not only Progressive Rock, but also to be Heavy Metal of sorts.
