Summer Tour?

Postby JourneyHard » Sat Apr 25, 2020 5:29 pm

Is Journey going to have their Summer Tour? Did they cancel it? The local radio station is giving away tickets to the Journey concert every day. If somebody won some tickets and then the show was cancelled, that would be very disappointing.

Who will be in the band for the tour? Neal, Jon, Arnel and two session players?

I am NOT going to the show because it will just be a rehash of the dirty dozen again, but I am just wondering if Journey is going ahead with the tour. With my luck, Perry will probably join the tour because this is one of two tours in the last 22 years that I won't be at.

There should be no tours like that this year period but America is bonkers so they will probably be doing a 70,000 stadium show next to celebrate the 'end of corona'

Neal was touting new music this tour. He says they were about to go with the studio before covid hit. Journey is completely dysfunctional. Other bands immediately canceled their tours and are performing free shows on Facebook live for quarantined fans. Meanwhile Journey offers nothing. They can't even update their website.

Neal, to his credit, at least plays guitar on Facebook.

Journey and Motley seem to be living in an alternate reality and haven’t cancelled yet. As well as people that think August and September there will be events.

Anecdotally, I am in the stagehands union at the Meadowlands in NJ. We received a memo last week that our summer stadium concerts at MetLife were not being cancelled, but simply being postponed until later in the summer/fall. I was shocked to hear that. Promoters might still be clinging to false hope, but its fun to dream there might be concerts yet this year.

By postponing they don’t have to refund you...canceling they do....I know a Bon Jovi and a few others canceled just for this reason...

Where is the communication from Journey? Or the alleged new manager, Merck whateverhisnameis? These guys sit atop the crown jewel of beloved AOR/melodic rock bands, and they are just pissing it away. They could be so much more. A completely fucked up organization. Pathetic.

To my knowledge, a lot of others haven't commented either. The Foreigner/Kansas/Europe tour still hasn't been cancelled or postponed either. Keeping my eye on this one because I have tickets with Europe on the bill.

I agree with you 100%. Journey's management is DOA. Back in the day, Herbie Herbert did all kinds of great things with Journey, but today these new management guys (whoever they are) are doing nothing. They should have the best web page ever and it should be fun and colorful and updated often. But instead, they have nothing.

Maybe Journey cannot tour this year, but they can make a new album. In the studio, there aren't huge crowds. They can do their parts separate. Or if they like to record "live," they can set up each band member six feet apart. The studio might be the safest place right now.
