I have to disagree on that. When singer isn't out front, presence might come across lower energy. IWBAWY wasn't half bad actually (haven't had a chance to listen to Suzanne yet) I thought it sounded good vocally. Nobody can top Perry's vocals on ROR material, but a couple have come close IMO when it comes to vocal timbre and emotion..........Juan Del Castillo of DSB and JSS.

I posted these. I don't feel IBAWY came across boring or flat in any way in person but it's possible that the band believes so which may be why they rarely play it. Seriously, it's a crime how little they play this song in concert. I'm just glad I saw them play that song live finally and I really enjoyed it! Apologies for the shaky camera work btw

It's the fact that they slowed it down so much that robbed it of its soul.

IBAWY was mediocre at best. Had to look up an Escape version of this....and Kelty nails this one..

I think you are both right. The tempo is too slow. But, also Jason doesn't seem to want to grab the song and go for it...maybe it would be a good idea for him to come out front and leave the keys for Jon. It would help the song and him.

I thought his vocals were great, but the backup vocals really struggled. He's also behind a keyboard and two amps at the back of the stage. From the vantage point of the crowd camera, there were times when you couldn't even see him. I'm sure this is the largest audience he's ever played, and this is one of the first times he's played live with the band. I don't think putting him upfront is the fix. As Deen experienced, fronting a band is a much different role than being behind your instrument and singing.

Who in the hell is Jason and why is he singing? If Arnel can't sing all the songs, maybe it's time to call it a day Journey.

Jason is their second keyboardist. A role previously filled by Travis from 2015 - 2020. The band has had other members (Deen, Travis etc.) doing the occasional song or two now FOR YEARS.

Yeah....I know they've occasionally used other band members to sing a song or two (namely Deen). I've probably seen Journey live 2x as many times as you or anyone else on this board (going back to 1980). Having said that, I will no longer fork over my hard earned money to see these guys live. They are nothing more than an expensive karaoke band now with one original member. The last time I saw them (about 6-7 years ago) their show was boring as hell.

Ok. If you're such a super fan and so knowledgeable, why the need for questions like "who is Jason and why is he singing?" Especially when the band has had other members singing since 2004(!). C'mon, man. Drop the attitude...
