This is funny because I was thinking Journey should try to do Oh Sherrie in their next tour next year. I wonder if Perry would let them. I think the fans would love it.

Perry wouldn't have any say. But the there is no reason for Journey to do that.

+1

I enjoyed hearing it on the ROR tour. Has Journey played it live since then?

He sounds amazing.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Journey needs to keep their set list interesting, but they also want to do songs people love. Oh Sherrie is perfect. Maybe Neal can say nice things about Perry before they launch into Oh Sherrie. Everybody would be happy.

Neither of those are Journey songs. Horrible idea.

Have zero interest in hearing them play Oh Sherrie. I'd rather the show have some new material rather than a solo effort from a guy that hasn't been involved with them for 20+ years.

Hate Oh Sherrie.... I've always been offended at some casual fans thinking its a Journey song and by some of the Journey tribute bands including it in their set.
First off, Journey covering any Perry solo song would just be lame and secondly, it would come across like they were paying tribute to some old retired geezer.

Seriously??? The old geezer made them a fortune. And...by the way...they are all old.

Perry wouldn't have any say. But the there is no reason for Journey to do that.

I don't understand. Sincere question: Why wouldn't he have a say?

Any band can play any song live they want. There is no need for permission.

Is this true? If anybody can play any song they want live, then why does youtube tag people for doing covers of popular songs? So, I can do the song in concert, but I cannot post it on the Internet?

It is different for visual/recorded music. Journey would need Perry's permission to release video of them playing Oh Sherrie.
