They very briefly discuss Kevin's work with Journey mentioning he worked with Perry, Augeri and Arnel. He did mention how much he worked on Arnel's accent for Revelation. Another interesting point, they spent 6 weeks in pre-production for Trial By Fire playing every song which led to "When You Love A Woman" being recorded in one take including guitar solos.

I seem to recall, but don't know where I'd find a source at this point, that they also did spent a similar amount of time playing through Arrival before recording, and due to that Augeri's voice was blown out before they even started recording. I don't know if folks here read the Noticeboard much, But Shirley is often discussed there. Seems almost no one cares for his production for the other artists with which he routinely works.

Thanks. Arnel's pronunciation on disc 1 and 2 is like night and day. You can tell time was spent on the new material. Not so much on the re-recorded hits.

Just the other day one of the re-records came up on my Spotify shuffle. I was reminded just how much I loathe those versions.

If they had more time to work on the enunciation, they would be pretty decent. As it is, mostly unlistenable to me.
