Why did they do "Opened the Door"? They should have done "Winds of March" with the orchestra! This was so close to being so cool.

They could have done both.

And, I would have liked to hear "One More" from TBF. The orchestration for that one seems like it would have been half done.

Here's "Opened the door" from one of the Orchestra shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRhRHeyR63Q

"You got the best of me": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blES8BOs7LY (Arnel sounds rougher on this)

Mother, Father: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wMrAL3yzfQ (Highlight for me)

Be Good To Yourself doesn’t seem like a song that would work well with an orchestra. There is a lot of Greg Rolie era material that would perfect with an orchestra though.

"Any Way You Want It" doesn't seem like an orchestra song either. Journey is about 20yrs too late for this trend anyway. If they wanted to impress, they should have done an entire album of new songs written for an orchestra, and recorded with an orchestra. Nowadays, it just seems like a gimmick. But, whatever.

I can't even hear the orchestra playing in this. In fact, listening to all of these, you can barely hear the orchestra in any of the songs. What was the point of doing this if the drums and bass are so loud that it over powers the orchestra - because the orchestra is turned down so low? If they are going to release this, I hope you can actually hear the orchestra playing.

One other thing, to see how to do this right, go watch Styx with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. They involve the kids, even giving some of them solo time. You can see how much of a thrill it was for some of them to be doing this. I don't understand why Journey even has them there for.

I don't know about you, but I am watching these amateur phone videos on my phone - so I don't expect to hear much.

I am listening to it with a noise canceling gaming headset on a PC. The orchestra may as well not even be there.

Like I said in my edited post, watch the Styx CYO concert...Or, the Tommy Shaw solo concert with the CYO. There are musical bits where the orchestra is FEATURED. This seems like Journey just hired an orchestra and told them to do what you want to and we will do our normal thing. Songs like "Mother Father" could, should, have the orchestra front and center. Instead, you have the BAND front and center - all the time - and the orchestra playing background music. I'm very disappointed in how they handled some of these songs. They could have been awesome but instead they are just "Meh". I was looking forward to hearing "Mother Father" and it's hardly any different than any other concert.

I just hope Neal doesn't decide to do an Unplugged version of the Greatest Hits. The worst thing ever was when the Eagles did Hotel California unplugged. The best part of that song is Joe Walsh's electric guitar!
