Sure it’s their 50th and they are on tour but celebrating a classic album would only help.

Yeah, it seems like a big missed opportunity by Sony but they are always failing pretty hard when it comes to the archival stuff they have for Journey. With the exception of Houston '81 and the remasters from the early 2000's with all the bonus tracks they really don't seem to care much unless Perry calls and wants involvement in any of those projects. According to one of Herbie's last interviews Sony does in fact own all the Nocturne video screen footage from '82-'87 so if they wanted to they could surprise us with likely any concert from the '83 tour but I don't see that happening, especially with all the bad PR currently going on.

Its a damn shame.

While it is likely a missed opportunity to mark the occasion, it's also not overly surprising. With all the drama going on, it might be tarnishing the band's legacy enough that people will be turned off to buying anything from them. I mean avoiding giving the idiots more money right now seems about the only way the fans can weigh in on their foolishness.

Here is the question: What does the band (Neal) want? Do they want a bunch of nostalgia fans who go to the concerts to see the Greatest Hits, with few who care about Journey's future and legacy? Or do they want to keep those who care about Journey's future and legacy and have them be a part of the audience? Those nostalgia fans are not the ones who buy the new albums. They are not the ones who will be there for more than the GH and nostalgia.

But, if the band is to come to an end soon, maybe it just doesn't matter any longer.

With all due respect, releasing live archive concert audio or deluxe anniversary album editions would not interfere in what they are doing now, it might even help generate some concert sales, I know plenty of people that would buy the product and still go see the current version of the band, the problem is the powers that be are so divided and Perry hates to go back and revisit those times, lazy record company, I mean how many live releases do we need of the current band? There has to be some really great stuff in the vault, damn shame
