Journey - Norman 1983 on YouTube

Postby JasonA1 » Fri Aug 26, 2022 6:24 pm

I burned this show on CD for the drive back and forth from college more than a decade ago, but it's still cool to see it in a form that's as official as it's going to get in 2022 terms: a playlist with uploads from the band's YouTube channel.

The show was originally broadcast on the radio back in or about 1983 or 1984 by Westwood 1.

I have the actual records from a radio station that broadcast the Westwood 1 show. I bought them at a record store in Cleveland that the owner used to get a hold of some pretty rare stuff.

I'm not sure if the Westwood 1 broadcast included the entire set from that Norman show? But it did include some deeper cuts than normal for a radio broadcast. It also included Jonathan's keyboard solo, but not Neal's guitar solo or Steve Smith's drum solo.

It was a great show, but the broadcast seems to be sped-up for some reason.

Love hearing JJ Jackson as the host.
He was my fav MTV VJ.
His expanded knowledge of music and artists was awesome.
