John Waite

Just FYI that there is a documentary from John Waite titled "The Hard Way". I was slightly surpried there was not much talk about Bad English...just briefly mentions it and features various bits of "When I See You Smile". He was complimentary towards Jonathan entering the Babys...saying he was a much needed injection of life into the band. It sounds like the label really screwed the Babys...when they broke up the band owed the label money. They never really made much money at all. In fact, John didn't make much money until "Missing You" was so huge. It's really a good documentary if you are interested in his career. It's on Amazon Prime, and maybe Netflix.

Thanks for mentioning it!

I haven't seen it, but I would guess that one of the reasons that it doesn't talk about Bad English very much is because Waite doesn't really want to discuss it very much. I briefly spoke with him about 15 to maybe 18 years ago, and when I brought up Bad English he seemed like he didn't want to talk about them.

I’ve never really seen anyone mention it but there was an interview with Schon ages ago saying the plan for the encore of the Journey Through Time show was for John Waite to make an appearance but had to cancel because of a private booking. Wonder how close that was to happening

I still find it mind boggling that John Waite supported Journey and they didn’t do any Bad English songs

Yup, I thought that same exact thing back in when I saw them together. I thought it would be a lock that we'd at least get "When I See You Smile" but nope. It wasn't until years later I realized that the bad blood after all that went down between Waite/Cain/Schon must have been pretty thick to not even appear on stage once together when all that was missing to have a Bad English reunion was Ricky Phillips on the tour. Same goes for when Santana played together with Journey a few years back at a concert in San Francisco......I thought for sure we were going to get a hell of a jam session along with Santana hits and maybe even Rolie showing up but no dice there either even though Santana IV was not all that old. After I asked him about it on FB Neal mentioned the reason the Santana thing never happened was pretty much because Cain didn't want it to happen, but who the hell knows at this point after all the social media spewing at everyone that Neal has been doing in the last couple of years.

I THINK that Schon did come out and play with Waite on Head First at least once...

A couple days ago Neal replied to a fan and said that John Waite doesn't return his messages.

@Drossi2003Rossi
Seems you got your legs under you on that one. It's nice to take off and have the whole jam soar like that. Saw your boy Waite last night in Boston. Still got it at 70. He did 2 or 3 English tunes. Where were you?

To be fair, John rarely replies to anyone’s messages :)
