Locked post?

Postby Rockindeano » Tue Mar 29, 2005 5:48 am

Rockndeano wrote this about Andrew in another post which is now locked.

It was about a member questioning his being banned on Back Talk for questioning Journey doing the "hidden track/bonus track stuff."
Rock'ndeano wrote:members?" Come on Andrew, be professional but be honest too.

Andrew replied

I try and remain professional, by not bashing other sites - especially the official artist sites!

But glad you dig this site and thanks for contributing to these forums.

Looking forward to having a beer with Neal in the UK in May

Incidentally, it was "The Back Talk Mods are at it again."

So I extend the MR invitation-

All I want to say is, Andrew, dude, you should wing on over here to the States, and hangout with us. You can swing a few grand(I think the Aussie dollar is a bit like the Canadian dollar--a few pennies short of the USD), but I want to meet you as I am sure others here do too.

I now understand the "Official sites" of the Bands, and how you need to be respectful and so on, but I read somewhere that even the members of Journey were not all that hot on BT...Any truth to that, Monker, NC, Fred????

I know you didn't ask me, but I am curious where you heard this?

I would guess that the implication is that the men of Journey rarely post on BT. It is true that the guys do not post enough. There is a frenzy of activity anytime they do. In fact, there is so much activity that they cannot hold conversations with anyone...so they make a single post and disappear again. There hasn't been a whole lot of band interaction since Neal had his meltdown on a Perry fan that was attacking him.

But the guys seem genuinely pleased with their BT family of fans...overwhelmed really!

Sadly, the general mentality of an "official" board is one of "RAH, RAH!"
I love Journey, but I am not solely a cheerleader. If I see something I feel deserves criticism, then I will criticize. I have gotten into pretty serious confrontations with some of the obsessive supporters. I have even felt "close" to being 'banned'. I agree that, at times, the mods have (in the past) acted hastily. And I DO feel that there should be some form of warning system. But in general, I think the mods at BT do a hell of a job. There is more activity on BT than on MOST official fan forums. There is a lot to deal with...and they do well.

As for what happened to NC, I would like to know his thoughts on my post in that thread. Will he ask to return to BT?

I really have no idea. The only bit that I know you may be alluding to is the journeydigest.com interview where the band made a bit of a comment that the posters there were clueless, or something...I don't remember the exact word. I'm sure it's still on the journeydigest.com site, if you want to read it. ..it was done during the time of "Red 13", I think. Jonathan made the comment and Neal laughed and agreed.

To be honest, I rarely even lurk on BT any longer. It's pretty much a useless forum, unless you want to agree with everything that is posted. Then there are certain posters who if you argue with them, you are setting yourself up to be kicked off. Most of the threads are lame or 'who cares?" type conversation.

IMO, BT is taken WAY too seriously by everybody...the band, the moderators, and some fans. It's not the bands 'house' as some say. It's a WEB FORUM. It should be THE place to go to talk about Journey. But, it's not. It's THE place to go to PRAISE Journey...and not much else.

What's your excuse? Get your ass out here! Bring along PF and HOTS too. Seriously, I want to extend the olive branch to them. I will give them free tickets if they so desire; even though it's Amtrak and will take a few days, at least they can still come. Anyone need free tix, let me know, and I will try to accomodate you all....
