Oh where to begin...

Nobody speaks ill of Classic Journey.

I have been accused of "bashing" Perry/classic Journey on many occassions...even though I wasn't.

It's on the radio all the time and has tribute bands honoring them. It's the soundtrack of peoples lives. I helped steam up a few car windows with Journey in the background.

Ahhh yes, the past....GOOD times!

It's their new music that is not the least bit inspirational.

Why do you always forget the "IMO" when you state things like this? Because it is YOUR opinion...not everyone's.

Why are you all lying to yourselves?

So, now that I have listened to the new music and I enjoy it, I must be "lying" to myself? NO.

Augeri never stood a chanch with Arrivals lyrics

Tell me what is wrong with the lyrics on Arrival. There are too many sentimental, 'lovey' ballads on the CD...that is true. But for the people who like those kinds of songs, the lyrics are beautiful. And songs like "Kiss Me Softly" and "Living To Do" are outstanding. "Higher Place", Signs Of Life", "World Gone Wild"...all seem pretty good to me! Jon has written a majority of the lyrics to Journey songs since he came on board...they haven't changed much. (IMO)

and Red 13 is just plain bad.

The only negative thing about RED13 would be the production value. The EP is very raw, which is unlike any other Journey CD. Journey was known for their polished production and RED13 is not polished. But you have a little of everything on that EP...a standard Journey song like "I Can Breathe", an AMAZING non-typical non-sentimental/lovey ballad in WAFTE, a bluesy rocker in "The Time" and a straight-ahead, all-out jam in "State Of Grace". IMO the songs are solid, the musicianship is tight, the lyrics are deep. And once you realize that, the production is irrelevant.

He may be entertaining singing the songs that Journey with Perry made famous

WOW, at least you can acknowledge that Steve Augeri is entertaining on stage!!

I am sure he can be proud in continuing to bring Journey music to the masses. People love Journey music and Steve is "bringin' it"!!

In my opinion,

Better. I knew you could do it!

Classic Rock came and went and all we have are the memories and that great music.

That style of music is still being made and is still very good. It is just not commercial anymore. That is not a bad thing.

I think that Perry knew it was moving on and tried to get Journey to move with it and did great with ROR

IMO ROR was a move in the wrong direction. But he accomplished what HE wanted...HE made a POP CD. The problem is that "pop" never lasts...it is disposible. So is ROR.

and TBF was a change also.

Yes, TBF was a change. For most of it, Journey was an AC band. Talk about TOO many ballads!! While the production is wonderful and the songs are still strong, the "vibe" of Journey was 'old'. They were playing old-people music IMO. Perry is fantastic on that kind of music, but Journey is apparantly not ready to slow down yet.

It seems that what most of you dislike about both albums is the changes to adapt to the times. Just my opinion.

Maybe it's "catering" to the times? Maybe it is the fact that Journey (Perry) didn't (couldn't) keep doing what they wanted. The times changed to a harder rock sound by the end of the 80's...Journey went soft. They didn't keep up with the times, they missed them all together. After their "change" they disappeared.

Even on CDs I do not like as much, there is still music I like. Even though I consider ROR my least favorite Journey CD, it does not mean I do not like it...I just like it less than the rest. That is because I AM a Journey fan. I DO accept changes in the band, I DO accept changes in the music, I DO criticize the things I do not agree with or like, I DO continue to support Journey.

If I did not support Journey, I would stop posting on Journey boards.

Firstly, My interpretation of "DB" is Dumb Bastard. And yes, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of..almost as dumb as "Bush in 2000."

Secondly. Now read this carefully. HOTS steaming up car windows may not be a bad visual...HOTS is not stupid. I don't particularly like the way she "co-exists" here and she does appear to be bitchy, but have you ever seen a "bitchy woman who wasn't hot?" Very rarely. My bet is HOTS is either..220LBS, single and has three chins, or is undeniably hots(no pun intended), and knows it. I wish she would send me a pic...You know I am not a professional computer geek..I cannot even post polls!! So I am harmless HOTS!
