Neat ROR interview up at Perryville.

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:46 pm

Fun Journey interview from the time of ROR at Perryville;

http://perryville.freeservers.com/clipoftheweek.html

I especially like when Perry goes around, amusingly characterizing each member of the group, (according to him he's the "melodics", Neal plays with "reckless" abandon, and Jon is "Amadeus").

Now, for my first post under the heading, " a nicer and more friendly Rockndeano."

Thanks NC, but don't all 3 look lcheesy? I know it was the time, but perry wearing a bandana, and Neal and Jon in leather? Come on!

Yes, that was a dark time for Journey. I remember at that time, I was more into Bon Jovi, Ratt, VH... I got made fun of if I said I liked Journey. I don't know what they were thinking...

Yeah I laghed my "rear end off" when heard Perry say that! Neal must have been churning inside.."get me the F outta here!"

It is hard to believe that it was all an act. The guys sure seem genuine, yet we all know how the recording went. Even on tour they looked like they were having a great time....I guess "genuine" should read "professional"!

You are correct jrnyman28 when you write "genuine" should read as "professional". They were putting on a show in this interview.

It is a damn shame that these guys couldn't get along, and Perry lost his desire for touring and fame.

I still love Journey now. But just imagine what could have been .......

What a great album is ROR. Just the blood and guts it took to get it to be makes it one of the finest of the Journey albums. The tape that I have on it is some of the best performance wise by the guys, imo.

ROR was good. BUT, not great like the other Journey cds. ROR was to pop for Journey, would have made a better Perry cd. ROR is better than TBF, but not better than Arrival-ERIC

ROR was absolutely the bottom for Journey. It was nothing but a Perry solo album disguised as a Journey album. Except for maybe one or two tracks it was complete crap! I've hated that album since the day it came out. It is so far removed from where this great band started out from its not even funny. TBF may not have been a great album, but I'd take it or any other Journey album over that mindless pop any day of the week.

If you really feel this way, then your taste in music is god-awful. What other bands/albums do you like?

Then why aren't you busy posting that The Beatles should not have continued without Pete Best? Ringo was just a sideman...

The Beatles were all rock stars. Only one rock star came out of Journey.

Check out the "Steve Perry Years"

imo

Really? What has this "rock star" done outside of Journey? One solo album whose success was based on that he was the singer from Journey when they were in their prime, and another solo CD that no one but Journey fans bought. Some rock star.

Exactly. Journey made Perry a rock star. And he did nothing with it.

Here's a rock star:

- Asked to join both Santana and Clapton at the age of 15
- Formed one of the best selling groups of all time
- Played with Sammy Hagar on HSAS
- Formed Bad English with Jon Waite and Jon Cain
- Formed Hardline
- Put out several solo CDs that display his talent in many genres
- Formed Soul Sirkus
- Selling out arenas with Journey, the group he loves and is committed to more than a certain singer was...

The guy doesn't sleep. He is a rock star.
