BackTalk Thread On The Issue: Open

Postby Red13JoePa » Tue Jun 20, 2006 3:38 am

I checked. There is a thread there clearly referring to this question and this site and the band have left it open for all replies. They put a caveat to lurkers that the opinions expressed there do not reflect official response. It also says to be respectful of Andrew and his wishes here.

Good on the band, who've been accused of hiding a lot lately. Small step, but that thread is definately alive.

That'll last long. They'll close it down as soon as the jackals and hyenas start posting.

They are just jealous of all the action here since their people came over. Probably afraid they will lose them to us.

That's a thought, but they are actually directing people to come to mr.com and this forum to read up on it. We are about to be invaded even more...

Whatever...not exactly living up to their reputation (here) of the ostriches burying their collective heads in the sand. It's acknowledged and Andrew is not a pariah.

You gotta love those BTers... the response so far in that thread is equivalent to covering their ears and going "NA-NA-NA-NA-NA NOT LISTENING NA-NA-NA-NA..."

No way he will be able to use the language he uses here. He'll have to "dumb it up".

Some of us WANT the damn thing shut down but it's there. Again, good for the band. They know it's strong enough to withstand stuff like this. Their site and Andrew will also have a statement.

CJ, who represents the band, has posted a link to this forum and the front page and encouraged those who want to find out what's going on to click away. They're not hiding from the shit.

How about this post on BT:

These nasty rumours were started by someone who calls himself Deano, it's on melodic.net forum and he and his girlfriend are/were frequent visitors of backtalk and now made it their goal to destroy Journey, but people, we won't let them do it....

I gotta admit, it is pretty shocking seeing a thread about this up at BT. There has to be an official statement coming soon...

I know. Flies in the face of everything most mock them for over here.
But now, in what should be the circle-the-wagons darkest hour they're doing the opposite. And bravo, again, I hope and think the band ad Augeri will overcome.

how can you claim to be a legitmate band of musicians if your lead singer is accused of lip synching or voice ehancement. it's just ugly.

What I am getting from over there is...

Even if it is taped, we don't care. We will blissfully enjoy the concert regardless.

Can't say I wouldn't care if I paid for a ticket, but to each their own. I am not going to try to argue with them - not my place.

if it's live then it should be live and acknowledged that the vocals would be lip synched and enhanced and then i'll let you know if i'm paying for that ticket.

I've thought long and hard on this subject and quite frankly have found myself vasilating back and forth about how I feel regarding these rumours. For me it comes down to this. 1. Would I rather hear a really awesome show that was being lipped to, or a horrible vocal show that was live? 2. Would I buy a ticket if I knew that the lead singer was not gonna be singing live but would be lip syncing? (even if he recorded it live in the studio) 3. Would I feel that I was ripped off if after seeing a show I found out that it wasn't live? 4. Even if this is the norm today in the music industry do I feel that as a fan I am being cheated?

I don't know if Journey is doing this or not, I really can't be bothered listening to the boots that are out there. I have been to 4 or 5 Journey shows in the past 4 years, and other than feeling like I saw the same show over and over again (cause they hardly changed the setlist up at all)
I had a really great time at all the shows I went to, and feel that I got my moneys worth. I don't think that we will ever know the truth because no matter what Management says there will still be those people that won't believe it either way, and there will still be rumours going around. At the end of the day this has made me really sad, because now every concert that I go to I am gonna wonder if it's really live. For me it's kinda like finding out there is no Santa.
