The board is being "Strangled" by News restriction

Postby McNeil » Wed Dec 13, 2006 5:24 am

Its unfortunate, but I feel strongly that the life, and vitality of the board is being slowly strangled by the suppression of the "Journey news" that Andrew is dying to print but been unable to.

Fuck..I havent been here for days, and when I come back, hardly a new thread, most new stuff being OT.

Even Deano has shit in his own pants!! Christ..... I think I will have to start insulting a few people again.... at least then, the threads were "hot".

FFS Journey... get your shit together..and lets get on with it... your fucking up this forum too!!!! its a valuable life line for you guys... keeps you alive... dont flatline us here!!! get a fucking grip!!

For once McNeill, I agree with you, as much as it pains me to type this....most of the regular posters are not here either...can u blame them.. its not Andrew's fault as he is stuck just like the rest of us and as soon as the news is able to be posted we will have some new news to talk about....I feel sorry for Drew as his hands are tied for the time being...some day soon we will have all the answers that we seek but until then we will still have to wait patiently...I'm sure the band members feel the same way we do but until the legal issues are settled we will all have to wait....
It is harder on the band b/c it is their livelyhood that is in jeopardy, not ours...the longer it takes the more credibility it takes away from them and the longer they have to wait to go forward if that is indeed what they plan to do...there is no way to hurry this thing up even tho' we are dying to....I have no advice to give anyone except try to have patience and respect for poor Andrew...it also affects his job too...

Granny, I agree with both of you. Sort of talking about this on another thread. With what we do know now, Augeri seems to have had the band by the short and curlies with the legal matters. If Andrew says screw it, and releases the interviews, it could have been devastating IMO. People at BT wonder why Augeri won't say hello. There has been a legal WAR going on. Don't let anyone fool you there. These things are nasty, even in the best case. I am sure Neal and Jon want this crap to be over, so they can enjoy their vacation. I'm sure Augeri wants it over so he can do the same, and whatever he wishes with his career. I'm sure Jeff wants it over so he can live his dream. I want it over so I know these guys aren't going to throw in the towel and say to hell with it. Sounds like it is almost over. Thank God if that is the case.

I respect Andrew for working with Journey and their management on releasing the Interviews, but as a Journalist, It's time to put forward your work..Let the chips fall where they may..

I like this site for cutting edge music, Interviews etc.. I'm afraid this is harming, more than helping this site..For the record, I don't want all hell to break loose. I just want to know what's up with the band next year..I could care less about all the other stuff.

If I post the feature and the interviews BEFORE the band has their official statement released, all hell will break loose. There will be people baing for my blood. Stay patient just a little bit longer.

I'm waiting and waiting....I sure hope it is all worth it...I would certainly like to know what will be in the future for this band as I am probably their oldest fan(in age that is) and have been a fan for a long time and would like this band to continue....there is nothing like a live concert....can't wait to see them again...

Drew, it's all good brother. Everyone should just go about their holiday plans and preparations while still checking in here for the latest TITTY pics and other awesome content. Once the news breaks, most will be happy, some will be bridge jumpers.

It is my guess that many of the more anticipated highlights of the interviews will be covered in any press release the band/management/circus is planning or may even have sent out.

Many times when press releases are sent out they are "embargoed" until a specific time/date and the media is trusted to adhere to that rule.

Of course, Andrew could just say fuck it and do whatever he wants. However, journalists/media who do not honor those embargoes many times will no longer receive the advance copy.

In old Washington politics, one example was when President Lyndon Johnson was getting ready to appoint a new director of the FBI to replace Hoover- Johnson had decided on someone whose name escapes me right now- and embargoed press releases were sent out to the WhiteHouse press corp.

Ben Bradlee who was then head of the Washington Post and Johnson had been fighting for years - Bradlee decided to run with the release so he could have the headline the next day - and embarass Johnson.

Whitehouse staff got their early edition of the Washington Post with the headline announcing the appointment - Johnson was so pissed at Bradley, he withdrew the appointment and appointed J Edgar Hoover for life. His quote "Let Bradlee print that in the Post and burn it"

Ok finished with the boring old stories.

Don't want that to happen, otherwise, there'd be nobody to run this site, and this is my only site for keeping up with the melodic rock scene anymore. Do what you gotta do Drew... We'll still be here.

Yeah, you'd think Journey would be satisfied with the stink pile they made at their own place, but NOOOOOO, they want to take everyone down with them. Do they have a clue what year this is? And I don't think Journey will be like the Rolling Stones. times a tickin' you stupid prima donnas!

Good post Carol, and yours too Mac.

I feel for what the fans and the band are going through, but most of my sympathy is for Andrew. He had the scoop and then had it pulled away from him. Gotta be a real bummer. :(

Even though most of us probably already know what the big announcement will be, I feel confident that there will still be enough substance in the interviews that we'll have lots to dissect and speculate about once they're released. :)

The reason I haven't been around much isn't because I'm bored or frustrated with the board. It's because my mother is here with me from Iowa this week and we're anticipating the imminent birth of my second grandchild and her second great grandchild. :D

Well we know what Journey are doing for part of next year anyway.

They're doing a European Tour in March. (I'll be there in Glasgow)

What happens after that is the crucial thing.

The thing is, if doesn't happen this week like Drew hinted it would... it's unlikely to be before Xmas.

And I think it would be better if it was before that, because then the band could start the new year with the new singer etc... you know what I mean.
