You know, when I was watching MSNBC last night and they cut in to say Pres. F. had died, I groaned inside because I knew coverage of his short tenure would go on FOR DAYS, until the poor man is buried... He was very nice, had a nice family, nice wife, etc., but he was never elected VP or Pres. and the pardon was very controversial (not in a good way either), so I'm hoping coverage of his passing isn't 24/7... Has anyone been watching CNN to see if that is happening?

WAY out of line. He WAS a good man. Even a President Clinton idiot should know that. (Man I hate when people don't refer to our elected officials as "President.")

PS Keep BT out of this....keep your PROMISE...at least for awhile

Shows how uninformed you are. Even Democrats credit Ford with healing the country after the whole Watergate affair, despite his pardon of Nixon (which I disagree with). Here are a list of his accomplishments, which aren't bad considering he didn't spend a full term in office...

  • Cut inflation by more than half
  • Cut unemployment
  • Key economic indicators were all on the way up at the end of his presidency.
  • Crime was going way up when he took office and was going way down by the end of his presidency.
  • Bettered relations with Japan and other Atlantic rim countries.
  • Helped bring some stability to the Middle East after the Yom Kippur war.

great article about Ford today regarding the Chevy Chase stunts from SNL back in the day... One he loved em... Fords line is error on the side of more exposure!! Classic!! Also during a one of those state white house dinners with the media, Chase was there---and Ford did the routine of stumbling to the podium... knocked over the table cloth and spilled the silver wear and stuff on Chase... they were all cracking up..then he tripped over the wires heading as he walked further to the podium and the speech started flying all over the place... Ford got up to the microphone finally, got his speech out and said... hi Im Gerald Ford and your not! Now is that CLASSIC or what... known fact... only vice president and president NEVER elected... known as the reluncted President...but we needed him at the time for healing process... Who will be that guy or women after Bush leaves in 2009???

FYI-- death comes in threes right... James Brown, Ford and whos next.....

Ford was a first class gentleman. The only mistake he made was giving Nixon a full pardon which he never recovered from (and rightly so). Ford has a great service record in the miltary and was a true man in every since of the word. He also was a top notch football player and turned down offers to go pro so he could go to law school and then service his country. Best of all, the only chick sucking his cock in the oval office was Betty. Why don't you save your bullshit for the Walmart crowd.

I'm just wondering if you have any idea what the word respect means.

Whether you liked or hated Gerald Ford is totally irrelevant. He was a big part of American history, good or bad, like it or not. He was a good man and deserves to be respected in death.

I am not suggesting that you have to like him but it is very possible to respect even those that you don't like. You should try it, you may be surprised at what you get in return.
