I think, due to the sound issues, most people are overlooking this particular performance. Not that it was bad, but we'd all rather move on. The songs were great, but once the monitors colapsed, and the subsequent adjustments trying to fix them, it was disappointing.

NOT disappointing, however, was the guys' energy. And for the majority of the set, the sound was ok. Papa was a Rolling Stone, the Sly Medley, Purple Rain/Faithfully...all PHENOMENAL. Unfortuantely, the Journey tunes at the end got slaughtered in the (sound) mix. Maybe they were just too much band for that little theatre.

Of course, the opening jam band played longer than either the Lovehammers or Journey, and leaned more toward jazz/blues than making ARF "rock". But that ensemble was full of talent, and deserve some serious appreciation.

I loved it.

The covers were great, the Purple Rain into Faithfully blended perfectly. Even with the tech issues, the band was rocking and played through the issues. I felt sorry for Jon but I think tech issues make shows unique. It was pretty fun IMO to hear Seperate ways with all guitar.

Another thing...could actually hear Mr. Valory singing back-up! Ack! Maybe that's why they use backing vocals tracks

Now....the set LENGTH was the biggest issue for me. Way too short with a 45 minute set. Tesla did a full 2 hour set in years past, or they played a shortened set with a big finale jam with all the bands. I was hoping Journey would do a big jam with everybody but no dice.

Hey man!

Didn't get to the ARF show, but I do know that I want to try to make it to Frederick MD on 2/9 when you guys are playing - Seems the most likely chance to get up and see the band, as we are playing in Wilmington DE the next night. Is that venue very smokey?

We were only asked to do a 30 minute set which then extended to 40....somehow we went over 5 minutes, ha ha!! Ross's mic was up louder than usual but he's ALWAYS been known to sing the baritone backing vocals, doesn't deserve to be slagged just cuz he was heard over the lead vox, when everything is properly blended, it sounds full with or without backing assistance :)

Jeff, honestly, you guys looked like a worm fucking a football....I loved the show and all, but it was definitely a cluster fuck, you gotta admit. Then Friga had his giant meltdown which was hysterical..I thought he was going to bitchslap Handly!

BUT, it's shows like these, that we want, not "Prefabricated" ones.

The Motown numbers were IMO, better than SW or DSB.

ahem!

Fun to hear JSS sing Faithfully even if it was only the last line of the song. Not so fun to hear the REAL backing vocals on the Journey songs but when you play to the masses with added "sauce" for years the real thing is never going to live up to the product you get at a real Journey show.

The production problems made me think this was some high school bands first run at a show... sound mixes, computer teleprompter, keyboard/cables. The band did get by with flying colors... Jon was the most bothered by the set backs and JSS was fast on his feet to sing through songs and to fill gaps. If he forget some lyrics it was not noticed. I would expect something more professional next time around.

The set list was FUNKY but nice to see these guys play something other than the Journey 101 hits. If they could of PLAYED LONGER it would of been a great show. I would hate to have been a total die-hard and traveled to this show for what was given. Sorry to those of you who traveled or spent a ton of cash on this event.

I loved the show still despite the sound probs. There were actually a few very funny moments with those we got to see since we were standing right up front on Neal's side. When Jonathan's harmonica couldn't be heard, Jeff started laughing & looked at Neal & said "They can't hear him!"...it was actually hilarious. Then the keys weren't working later, & Jonathan looks over at Jeff & Neal & mouths "Nice!"...Jeff also said a little something about the computer up front not working but I won't repeat that  lol...it was great! lol

Purple Rain/Faithfully was my fav.

Agree totally with Ratgirl! No regrets whatsoever......got to see the band play songs I would have NEVER gotten to see, met some great people, and had a fantastic time in San Francisco. Worth every penny!!! :D

I've got to agree with everyone! Despite the sound and tech problems, and the fact that it was so FAR from home, it was definitely worth the trip! Hearing such a unique set list! Something we may never get the opportunity to see again! Purple Rain was my favorite 8) Loved the added sax from Marc Russo in the first few songs too. I've also never seen Marco Mendoza play live before which was awesome 8)

Didn't notice Ross's vocals, but then again we were on Neal's side and when watching him close up you tend to get mesmerized by his fast finger work :) Never got to be right in front of him before like that, so it was very fun to watch him play :)

Oh c'mon, time to be Rock Gods and stick it to the man...keep playing until they drag you off stage!! WOOHOO!! Or maybe something like "we keep playing or the kitties in the cage backstage get it!"

It's fine about Ross singing except that at a regular Journey concert, his microphone is mixed so low that you can't hear it on the general mix...you only hear the infamous sauce singing backup. Actually it wasn't louder than the lead vox but I just noticed in particular as there was no sauce this time!

Great show overall, loved it.

I flew in from Indiana and it was definately worth it. Yeah, there were some sound problems...yeah Ross's vocals were booming through the sound system...yeah Jon's keyboards blew up...but it was a great night! Although, you can keep Marty Casey and the LoveHammers! I'd do it again too!

The set list is tough for some of us, since many of the songs were not Journey. I think eventually someone will put it on here :)
